  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

@Vambram, glad to see some Metal in the thread.

This is also from a Metal artist. It's currently my favorite Christian Metal song since "Bethlehem" by Theocracy. You might think it sounds simple, but there's a lot more going on in this song than it appears both musically and lyrically. It's taken after an old hymn, with variations, of course. The song was actually just released today. It's by a Christian Black Metal band called A Hill to Die Upon from the album "The Black Nativity" a Christmas album. First time I heard it I loved it.

Thank you, brother. That is a really good song by Theocracy.

One day I found a cassette under a seat in a car I once bought call 'Amost Heaven' by the Kelly family. This was a sort of Folk group with 9 siblings (5 brothers and 4 sisters) but they also had other siblings and even the father involved. But it was their harmonising that caught my attention. At that stage I did not know if they were Christians though some of their themes seem to be.

I found out later Paddy Kelly who was only young and often the lead singer had become a priest and had a sabatical for several years in a Convent. While there he produced a couple of religious albums which continued his music and his unique ability to relate to lifes ups and downs.

He later left the priesthood as he realised his calling was to make music and spread the word. He had a way of relating to young people, to most people. As this was mainly in Europe especially Germany where the family spent a lot of time. So the family and Paddy were relatively unknown especially commercially.

This has been an amazing journey for me from what was a chance discovery in a car I bought. I don't think I would have chosen such music or even have heard of the Kelly Family and Paddy. I was a non Christian when I found this music and just like I have evolved into a Christian so has their music. So its very much a part of me.

I will include songs that represent the Kelly family as they were before Paddy became a priest and Christian and Paddys evolution over the time I have been getting into their music.

The Kelly Family with a young Paddy as lead singer.

At their peak the Kelly Family were just as popular as the Beatles in Europe and often had big open air concerts. Here they are singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot. Sorry the vision is pretty poor but the sound still comes through.

They become a smaller band and Paddy and Jimmy cut their hair. But they are still making good music.

Then Paddy became a priest and changes his name to John Paul Mary. While on sabatical he still produced beautiful music.

Then he left the priesthood and encouraged to share his music. That was his calling.
