  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just a quick note to announce my experiencing problems with GE

After a trouble-free start to my day's posting
I found, that I was having to REFRESH the Index Page, so to see 'changes' updated

I LOST, several longish-posts, in different threads
and then my browser [IE8] lost-connection with CF ['site' could not be found]
I have pop-ups 'blocked', but, I allow CF to send cookies
Before becoming disconnected, I found
that I was unable to browse other pages from, the Index Page

I am using FIREFOX 11 [by Mozilla] to post this 'heads-up'

If, I am unable to maintain a connection with this browser
Please Email me at: dave_dajobauk@hotmail.co.uk

I have been using safari (an apple product)... it's a pretty good browser.... to my knowledge firefox doesn't have adequate technical support...I experienced problems with IE way before I met you guys and the firefox support went away a couple years back...since then I've used safari...I am forced to use IE for some specialized proprietary functions (ie. avon) but everything else is good with apple.

I'm using Firefox 11 and love it - no problems at all - FAST. I have other browsers on my system, but I find Firefox to be the best all around for me and all the things I do online. I also consider Firefox to be the safest.

Thank you Bro' Tom

I am 'attached-to' IE8, for it's multitudinous capacity to work well [on other 'sites']
and also, with my Windows-Live 'presence' online

Thankfully, when experiencing 'difficulties' with, a very few sites
I too, have other browsers onboard, that CAN 'make the trip' successfully

Firefox 11 and Safari

I cannot and will not reccommend, 'Google Chrome'_ 'Google Search'
and severely limit, the Adobe Flash 'functions'
for reason, of those huge cookies that sites can access and read my 'spoor'
My 'sources' are private

Not that I do [or, wish to do] anything 'illegal' while online
but, because I have a penchant for TRUTH and it's wider promulgation
remains then the possible reason for,
that I have, so often been hacked... [by enemies? ]

So, I have learned to shut doors behind me
and quickly point-out 'possible perils', to my friends

It should be FUN out-here, but, as you know.... 'other' sorts, are prevalent

I haven't done much in the last couple days but ask (beg) God to improve my work circumstances. I enjoy the "functions" of my job but don't really want to work there anymore and I am having a hard time with the crazy hours... Its taking it's toll. I'm really not a lazy or slothful person. I would just rather have a schedule that I can depend on and maybe a little more control over my time. God's probably tired of hearing it. :)

The other day a young person asked me how I felt about being old.
I was taken aback, for I do not think of myself as old.
Upon seeing my reaction, she was immediately embarrassed,
but I explained that it was an interesting question, and I would ponder it,
and let her know.

Old Age, I decided, is a gift.
I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be.
Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt.
And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror
(who looks like my Father!),
but I don't agonize over those things for long.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family
for less gray hair or a flatter belly.
As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself.
I've become my own friend.
I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed,
or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio.
I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon;
before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it ?
if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?

I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's,
and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a trunks that is stretched over a sagging body,
and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to,
despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful.
But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken.
How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers,
or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?
But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion.
A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray,
and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive.
You care less about what other people think.
I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old.
It has set me free.
I like the person I have become.
I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here,
I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.
And I shall eat dessert every single day. (If I feel like it)

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART
ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!
MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE
AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER!
FRIENDS FOREVER!
