My collection is now cut in 1/2 thanks to my husband, kids, and grandkids ^_^
But all is well.....I am really detached from all that now.
My mother had bought us a big multi-shelf unit for them to be displayed in the living room back in 1987.
Now I only have maybe a dozen? left that I put on my window sills between the living room and 4 season porch.
I only bought those that resembled the REAL bird species, and they sure didn't cost what they cost now :p
This link shows the figurines I had over the years (dated 1987-1992) Lenox bird figurines

My wife used to collect angels, so I know what you mean about full-contact kids, grandkids, and dogs. I think that she put up what she has left. I don't know what the brand was, but they were definitely pretty and delicate. I, personally, was a good boy and never broke even one. My daughter collects snow village buildings. She displays them only around Christmas and near the ceiling. Again, I don't know the brand, but she has an extensive collection. She also has 4 boys, so I think she must have some magic in keeping them all in one piece.

Yes, those figurines were very nice. I am not a collector of anything...I always spent my extra money on the horses, their needs and goodies...now it is for the dog and way cheaper. :)

Penny is definitely a priority for us :D
Back then we were both working, and the cost was much cheaper than it is now.
I am not a 'collector' person.....I was taken by the authenticity and beauty of the bird figures...so life like.
Moving to the country opened the door to a new world for me....there was so much to take in with the wild life and scenery; I just had to 'capture' some of it to show my loved ones.

Hello Eagles!!! I've been reading all the posts since my last visit..

I think that the "earth shift" is called a "full moon" around here.
It causes people to behave in ways that they wouldn't normally which begins the spiralling effects Shirley spoke of.
I believe that the name "lunatic" comes from that theory.

As for the porcelaine ghost collection, it must be frustrating to say the least. I guess it would be like having a few of my paintings ruined by my children or grandchildren...hmmm...how to file that thought....not sure!

Dave, I can't believe I guessed right, woo-hoo!!!!! :clap:Thanks for commenting on my paintings...I've been very concentrated on them lately. I have a new one that I'm working on...it's called "The Riviera" though I've never been. I've posted phase one and phase two in my album for your pleasure. Hopefully I will post phase 3 by tomorrow.

YEARS ago when I was 'attached' to my things, it bothered me a great deal if something happened to a piece; usually it was because hubby or a kid was 'helping' me dust ;)

Now, I treasure my GRANDKIDS more than a piece of porcelain.

Now your paintings...which are awesome (I just don't know how to comment on them)....that may be different given they are crafted; that most likely would bother me

Actually Gail, something did happen to a painting last week. I was selling 2 of my paintings and giving a 3rd one to the same person. When I went to insert the 3rd one into the same bag....a bottle of Argan oil fell in.
It was sitting on the bureau just above the parcel and must have gotten knocked in when I added the 3rd painting. Argan oil is a hair moisterizer from Morroco and (crazily enough) doubles up as a paint thinner on occasion! Needless to say that one of the paintings was ruined. I was thankful (literally prayed to God thanking Him) that it was the last painting (the one I was giving away) and not the other 2 which were sold and took considerably longer to paint. In any case, it made me realize that we need to detach from our material possessions and see how "people" are the really important elements in our lives.
Had it been one of the other paintings...I would have returned the money and probably cried myself to sleep that night.
Thank you for sharing!
BTW, I followed the link and they are really pretty.

I would have cried too most likely, regardless what painting was ruined!
It is a grace when we can detach from our material things and our 'works'!

Hello Birdie,

You actually sound a lot like my wife and I. We don't have expensive things either, and we treasure things from our family. It's interesting because there is usually a story to go with each item - a nice memory.

My dad and I used to play chess together quite often. He was very good at it and he usually beat me with little or no effort. However, it still makes me cringe when I think of the few times that I actually won...and he would retort "I let you win that time". Hmffff! That's how I feel now.

I beg to differ with you Dave....there is no definition of a revolution in relation to the wheel. Rathar,it is any and all of the following (see below). I used to have an old measuring cup that I put a melted scorch in while learning to cook. My mother looked at it and said, "i'll give that to you when you leave home.".. And she did... then my son in his teenage years decided to help get rid of all my junk... HE THREW IT AWAY. I used it almost daily.

WE stop at a couple of big truck stops on our trips to Eric's house. They seem safe in the day time...lots of people going in and out...we prefer them to gas stations because of the fast food we can get there. One "chain" is always cleaner than the other, I will stop there if I can as first choice.

well, I emailed him back.. the man who contacted me...It's a large family owned operation... probably safer than a gas station...and as a manager I would most likely spend minimal time behind the cash register... there are cameras... and lots of knarly looking truckers for robbers to have to deal with. lol

Stopping by to say hello

This week was a trying one for us; I spent a lot of time in prayer,
and thankfully the Lord has lifted our spirits

Have a blessed week everyone

Praise God for His mercy and grace

I think Spring is knocking at the door around here,
even tho we did not have winter.
We are very dry, dry, dry...the summer fires will be a problem.
I still feel this Spring energy anyway...the Lord is good!

Need to get my camera out and take some new photos.

:D

how do you all feel about truck stop managers. lol..

seems as though they are looking for people with retail and restaurant management skills.
I've never managed a restaurant.

I like your granddaughters picture... and thanks for the prayers... I am sentimental but that side of me doesn't seem to be evident to family... they see me as cold and uncaring... when in truth I just have low tolerance for unruly or selfish behavior. It bothers me however that my son has probably never noticed that his painted rocks and a corn cob are in my china cabinet. lol
