Hi Tom Brother

I am not allowed-to discuss which member(s) are offending
('cause(s)', of my concerns)

To give "an example" would also be tantamount-to 'pointing fingers'
So, let it suffice to say, that such errors, are repeatedly made
in what appears to be 'a wanton manner' ... ?
(with-disregard for established protocol) ~no effort made 'to-redress / correct'
Another member, then (apparently 'politely') ~proceeds, from the errant reply

After POSTING, I located the 'statement of purpose'
but chose not to report.... report, report, report

We all (from time to time) make mistakes
eg: reply to a previous page (non-current) reply too-late [times, have moved-along]
We do also replace wrong replies, with '..' / 'ooops'

I am referring to 'the breaking, of a sequence/progression'
with a reply, one, that bears no-connection to the preceding-post
which is then followed
by an apparently 'polite and kindly member'
~making no-mention of it's being awry /having-caused an interruption
~not then responding, to the post, made PRIOR TO, the one in 'error'
ie: Ignoring the error but not responding to it

I won't suggest 'teamplay'
or 'mind-games' ~is their purpose (it may well, not be so)
I hope not...

I make mention, ONLY because, my unwatched-threads list, is 'growing'
If, I IGNORE those-members, I myself WILL NOT see their posts
but will then 'undoubtedly' be posting so many errant replies (out of sequence)

In short; I do not need this
I'm sorry

:prayer:
Perhaps this may be referring to a post by a member in a word game thread here in GE, after whom I posted. If so, then yes, I chose to continue on from the other member's post, even though I saw that their post was not in accordance with the OP criteria. The reason I did this, rather than quote the last post which was in accordance with the OP criteria, is because I thought that if that member came back to post again, they would see their mistake and know how to post from then on. To me, that is the kind and courteous way. If the member continued to post wrongly, I would then have dropped them a line privately about it.

If indeed I am one of those to whom this is referring, the 'apparently polite and kindly member' perhaps, then I wish all in GE to know that the 'non-suggestion' of teamplay and mind games is totally unfounded.

I have not mentioned 'a single-post' but, many ~of that kind

We all make mistakes ~from time to time
and, we all have 'an edit button'
Also, 'Change a letter' does not mean, 'rearrange the letters'
~to do so, is to ignore the OP and, (it is not a one-off ??) repeatedly (?)

Maybe, it would have been better to proceed ~from the last-'correct-reply'
if, no 'heads-up', was going to be issued

'Chess' would not be the game it is, were players to choose arbitrary moves for each piece

If members want to play, they should 'play-properly' or the Thread loses-out

The post being referred to where a word was rearranged rather than rewritten with one letter changed, was followed by a post by me again, I see. And yes, I followed the same principle with this as stated in my previous post here (#1141).

The mind 'boggles'

"Two 'wrongs' did never a right make"

Seriously ?

If I have failed, to show
my suspecting of some 'contempt for the rules' ~forgive me
I must-be, going 'stupid'

Time, I think, for me to-retire to my paintings
before I get really 'screwed-up' and _begin-to imagine-things

If such misbehaviours are to-continue
I won't be able to remain here

Contempt for the rules is a harsh edict where none was intended because, from my point of view, a smooth continuance of the criteria of the game as the example for new posters in GE to follow is my stance. To credit posters with some common sense seems the kind way to me; to assume that after a few posts they will get the drift of the thread. As stated in my previous post (#1141) if several errant posts were to occur, I would drop a line to the poster in a private message. However, to my knowledge, the poster concerned made only two errant posts in said thread.

117,000+ posts [no newbie there] and yourself with almost 168,000 posts

Yes we often see, just what we want-to
especially when, we feel justified, in it's continuance
Little wonder that education is failing our youngsters
with adults 'setting such example'

My mention of new posters in GE (post #1145) meant just that, ie people who have not posted in GE before, to my knowledge. It did not refer to new posters to CF ie folk who have just joined CF. I choose not to assume anything about posters' errors to begin with as it may be their first foray into the word games on offer round CF. There are many posters who have never posted in the game type threads. I know this is so as I have posted all through the years in those threads in the Rec Room and in recent years, in GE as well and the folk who do post in them are a handful compared to the total number of members in CF. As you said yourself, threads that have moved beyond thread #1 do not have the OP instructions for the game visible.

Hello All,

Just a quickie, cos it's bedtime here in UK land.
We were a sad household here over the weekend because our 14 year old golden lab died on Friday evening, but now there's talk of a Siberian husky puppy.

I had a busy morning at the charity shop where I volunteer. I work mainly on the till, but I'll do any other small jobs that need doing

This afternoon hubby and I went to do a supermarket shop.

Be blessed and a blessing.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog. Dogs are creatures that love unconditionally. Humans tend to put conditions on love. Perhaps that is why God gave us pets.

Thank you both. We all miss Sandy very much - our daughter in particular - but looking forward to the new arrival at the end of the month. We have a lot to do before then by way of preparation.

On that other subject - is there not a place on this site for posting grievances about any aspect of the forum?

Be blessed and a blessing today!

The closest I could find was "Chat With Staff" Chat with Staff I hope this helps you.

Yes, there is. At the top of your screen click on the tab that says Support. its to the right of blogs.

Once inside, click on the bright red button on the right hand side and open a "ticket" where you choose your issue from the drop down menu and then expound on it and post.

Staff will get back to you about it soon.

I wouldn't have found it without your instructions. Mine is a button with 3 horizontal lines and doesn't say support unless you hover your mouse over it. In other words, it was hiding in plain sight.

Thanks for all the sympathy messages. My husband and one of our sons collected Yuki, our new puppy, on Monday. She is cute, clever and very gentle and we all love her.

When I asked about somewhere on site to post grievances, I wasn't thinking of myself. I just thought there must be a more appropriate place than this thread to discuss grievances related to the forum.

I will say that I tried to find the original post on the thread in question and couldn't find it. Just wondering if the original post could be reposted each time the thread is split and a new one created. Then it might be clear what the intended rules are.
