• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That group isn't searchable by me. I don't have enough of a following by the right kind of people to make something like that.

How can you run a group if you have disabled your Facebook account? I also have a page that I operate. The rules there are pretty stringent about behavior.

I do not follow the paths of others
and I only rub shoulders
with those who are walking in the same direction as me
I have been joined by those that see and understand the same 'problems'
Years of posting and reading, have made their recognition possible [often EASY]

I practice those same 'methods' here
I simply IGNORE those whom > say one-thing, but in-practice, behave contrarily

I have reopened my pages at FB
But post, only to my Timeline and "The Umbrella City Cafe and Atelier"
My friends, ONLY, will see notifications of my posting-there
I have friends, that I HAVE NOT invited into that group
(for reason, they, have friends and/or family
that freely make gross and/or evil comments
and those friends do not make any kind of a stand
to deplore/change those communications
...)

I can also BLOCK notifications of
posts those persons make to my friends
[ my blocked list is several pages in length HUNDREDS ]

All my pages are FRIENDS ONLY
and while friends of friends may see a post (of mine) to a friend's page
Interaction and Following is DENIED

We are a Church

dave

PS

I prefer to have a few VERY GOOD FRIENDS
than Drown in a sea of unwelcome depravity

I have a pretty lengthy block list too. I have removed friends that post stuff that is depraved. I will be taking a hiatus from Facebook. After that I will prune everything.

What is your FB username ?
~pass it to me... ~create a "new conversation" ~with me as recipient
(Private Message... in another terminology)
and I will invite you into the group
so that you may 'sample' a really clean group
of Christian friends

Using the experience of your years...
helps you to make
'better-choices and fewer-mistakes'

Do you have concerns, about your identity 'online' ?

Yes, so I limit the real information about myself that could be used for identity theft or other problems.

I have in past days, decided to unwatch some threads in GE50+
for reason, that I see
that the 'rules' regarding the following of the OP Threads
are, no-longer being displayed
and so, returning members / visitors, have taken to posting 'whatever they wish'

Such disruption, is really beginning to 'twang my strings'
>
Golden Eagles 50+ Statement of Purpose

The Golden Eagles 50+ forum is a fellowship and discussion forum for members who are in their fifties or older.

To facilitate open discussion that is healthy and productive, consider the following guidelines:
  • Address the content of the post, not the poster, so that flaming doesn't occur.
  • If a post isn't clear, ask for clarity before making assumptions.
  • Stick to the topic of the thread. If you find that the discussion diverges onto a new topic then please consider starting a new thread, but let the current thread stay on topic.
  • When someone shares a personal experience, it's their experience, and not open for being right or wrong. It is what it is. Please be respectful of what their experience was, even if yours was different.
  • Please post in a manner that is respectful of both Christ and other members.
  • Remember, make sure any graphics and links that you post do not violate the CF rules, as you are responsible for what you post. Double check for vulgarity and profanity that other sites may not care about.

If this happens in all threads in-which I participate, I will have no forums to visit

Hello Brother Dave,

I'm confused. I don't think that you're talking about statement of purpose and rules posted for each individual thread, but I don't know. Would you give us an example please?

Hi Tom Brother

I am not allowed-to discuss which member(s) are offending
('cause(s)', of my concerns)

To give "an example" would also be tantamount-to 'pointing fingers'
So, let it suffice to say, that such errors, are repeatedly made
in what appears to be 'a wanton manner' ... ?
(with-disregard for established protocol) ~no effort made 'to-redress / correct'
Another member, then (apparently 'politely') ~proceeds, from the errant reply

After POSTING, I located the 'statement of purpose'
but chose not to report.... report, report, report

We all (from time to time) make mistakes
eg: reply to a previous page (non-current) reply too-late [times, have moved-along]
We do also replace wrong replies, with '..' / 'ooops'

I am referring to 'the breaking, of a sequence/progression'
with a reply, one, that bears no-connection to the preceding-post
which is then followed
by an apparently 'polite and kindly member'
~making no-mention of it's being awry /having-caused an interruption
~not then responding, to the post, made PRIOR TO, the one in 'error'
ie: Ignoring the error but not responding to it

I won't suggest 'teamplay'
or 'mind-games' ~is their purpose (it may well, not be so)
I hope not...

I make mention, ONLY because, my unwatched-threads list, is 'growing'
If, I IGNORE those-members, I myself WILL NOT see their posts
but will then 'undoubtedly' be posting so many errant replies (out of sequence)

In short; I do not need this
I'm sorry

:prayer:

Hi Dave
I am sorry about my oops post, didn't mean to offend or upset.
:bye:

It wasn't you Sis'..... at least  you 'picked up' your guilty-feeling and felt an apology was due
and such is so not-apparent, with those ~that 'leave their mess' behind them
'and go on' as if everything is just fine and dandy....
which of-course it-isn't [Not, if you were, brought-up 'decently' anyway]

When a friend (of mine) is in-error / mistaken, I would assuredly give them a 'heads-up'
(alt. put them wise, that they should not look foolish / continue in-error)
But, this has not been the case
and losing-track (as a result of that failure) can seem like just one too-many 'Senior-Moments'

I don't wish to sound like an 'old fuddy-duddy'
but, either someone is not paying enough attention to the OP's, or else THEY
ARE otherwise-distracted with chatting to each-other, to even stay inline with the Thread's OP

No! it certainly isn't you Star Dancer Sis'
