  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello Brother Dave,

I have installed Trusteer Rapport now, and I can't see any difference in the forum functions yet. I'll let you know. I was just thinking that some of this could be your ISP and servers you go through to get here. Christian Forums would have no control over that. HOWEVER, I did have problems about the same time that you did, so who knows?

Thank you Tom
I am sure you will have read about
that it is for 'endpoint user protection' and 'how it works'
So, I won't go on, about that
Yes, today I note that my connection IS SECURE
however to the right side of my address bar, I note
that I am still, blocking attempts, from 'this page'
to post unsafe scripts, and also cookies from this page
I do so wish I was able to identify 'which' they were
and/or their source and in doing so
assist attempts to deal, with those...
Trusteer simply closes the door and, prevents my interaction
with any contaminated page(s)

I installed 'Trusteer Rapport' years ago now
upon it's being recommended to me, by my Bank...
It protects the business of many banks and government agencies
and, it is for-free

You say, that you do not see "any difference, yet"
so, please let me ask:
What is it that you see ~to the far right of your 'address bar'

I mean 'Besides, the ADD bookmarks button' ?
(I am comparing our separate/ individual views)

On some pages within CF (including the Private Messaging System 'member to member(s) )
I am seeing one, two or even three warning flags [scripts, cookies etc]
Whenever, I see the the https struck out [with a red line](far left)
is when my pages freeze, and/or, my posts fail, to be submitted

I can then, only post IF, I allow those unsafe scripts and cookies

Cookies, come in several sizes, and some call-home
and establish unwanted-contact
and even invite further downloads (one wrong click..and ??)

Anyway, Staff tell me some things "have been fixed"
I DO see, my SECURE connection has been restored and,
my right side -address bar, warnings continue...
but, I can it-seems still post messages in-forums
Oh, and I have-to also add, that my text inputting, flows more freely ie: I do not have-to wait for the text ONSCREEN to catch-up, before continuing to-type
THAT too!! was some disagreeable hassle, to contend with

I have now added 'DO NOT TRACK' to my Chrome SETTINGS
~not that I have anything to hide, but, to help turn away cookies, that I do not wish to store

Your Bro'

All I've seen so far is the Trusteer icon with a check mark in it indicating that this site is under protection. I also enabled Trusteer on several sites I go to every day with the same results. I had pretty heavy security before installing Trusteer. I've used the HOSTS file for years, always with the latest malware sites listed. I see nothing if a malware site tries to load, and I don't get any kind of notice when this happens. I use MVPS: Blocking Unwanted Connections with a Hosts File - and it's free. I use a freeware program called HostsMan to manage the HOSTS file for me: abelhadigital.com I use Avast Internet Security as my main protection.

Tom Bro'
I can see a need for photos of my 'active address-bar'
to express and underline my 'view'

Give thanks for your blessings Tom Bro'
for, I am sure there are many, whom, cling to their connection
never knowing 'how blessed' they might-be to travel thus-far 'unchallenged'
~by those, that could spoil-everything, in just a few moments
I am indeed blessed, to have been enabled ~to learn, 'how to' get up and move-on
and, it has not been an easy task
to 'grow' thru millenium, XP, XP Pro', Linux and now, Windows 10
(metaphorical 'sore knees', included)

By his grace, I have managed to extend my own 'four walls'
and maintain, my-connection, to friends around the globe

To be honest and, perfectly-frank, about this
I felt Satan, was banging on my door (here) such, that I just had-to
speak out and if-necessary, to 'go-down "shouting" of my-experience, to-others'

I'm sorry that I'm not more help. I'm not familiar with Google Chrome or Windows 10. I just got to thinking that your problems might have something to do with advertising trying to load. I could be wrong, but I don't think this is anything intentional on the part of Christian Forums. Just for curiosity, see if there is Adblock + or uBlock Origin available for Google Chrome. Both block thousands of malware sites and advertising. I personally like and use uBlock Origin for Firefox.

Yes, it wasn't so-much that I needed to block Ads Tom Bro'
But rather-more, that along with the 'run of the mill' cookies
that the pages also tried to load "UNSAFE SCRIPTS"

As you know, scripts set up, the manner in which the pages display / ie: set paths to databases, and what to ALSO LOAD
into our browsers, to setup our onscreen page (experience)
Where, "UNSAFE" as you know ~has the potential
to be 'dangerous / harmful' to our computers
^^^
ie: something , that I could really, really, really 'do-without'
at the moment (?)
and which, might conceivably, be more harmful (expensive) to members having so-much less programming-experience ?
Whose only resort, might be the local PC repair shop

Those, that have eyes but do not see
and use, without-understanding quite-how (?)

If I can be 'taken-down' how much more-easily then
can others who have not stumbled (been tripped) by such things

Be well Bro' Tom

A reason, for your not seeing "any difference" could-be
that you did not FIRST remove your existing software
and that the add, of Trusteer, was therefore supplementary
and not 'stand-alone' (or beside, your firewall)

Good News¬

I have just read 'some smoke' ~from a nearby hill :D

The message reads:
"The issue with posting should be fixed now.
We saw where that error was coming from
."

:happydance:

Best wishes Tom Bro'

Hello Brother Dave,

I think that you're right. I do have a lot of security with or without Trusteer. I'm also pretty careful because I can't afford repair bills or replacement.

Same here, ~it was a windfall of special allowances added-to my pension, that permitted my purchase, of this Windows OS Toshiba Notebook
or else, I would have to have forgone the image editing software
that only functions in 'Windows'
Repair/Replacement would not normally be a possibility

You should not have any ticks or flashes in RED on your Trusteer Button, adjacent to your address-bar... Green with a White Arrow is the I AM- ON BUTTON.... just saying

Hi Tom Bro'

I have 'just-noticed' that Windows 10 Extensions Store
has Adblock (also 'other-extensions) available, for-download

Customise with extensions
Personalise Microsoft Edge with popular extensions like Pinterest's Pin It Button, Amazon Assistant, AdBlock, Adblock Plus, LastPass and more. Download extensions easily from the Windows Store.

I do notice however, that there is no sign of 'Trusteer' on the Microsoft Edge browser window

Latest reports, state
that the death-toll had been doubled
that this tragedy had similarities to a tower block fire back in 2009
Lakanal House: The verdict | Analysis | Inside Housing

Then exposing_
* the use of building materials, that far from slowing the rate
of fire-progress, actually assisted it's spread and toxicity of the smoke and fumes
* highlighting woefully-inadequate entrance and escape-facilities
* lack of a sprinkler system / absence of, hose-reels on each floor / lack of prior instructions to residents on what to do, in such an emergency

Far from collapsing... (or, being demolished)
and I do make the distinction
between WTC towers (9/11) and these tower blocks
they did not collapse
and indeed, Lakanal House could be brought back into-use
¬
Lakanal House to be brought back into use
15/09/2014

So very upsetting, to be convinced, that this was not only PREVENTABLE
but 'that advice' has been ignored by property managers
in favour of, 'cheaper costs' .... (false-savings)

Money over human life.
I hope the Brits band together to make sure those responsible are scolded by the Queen and strung by their toes.
I also hope those displaced find somewhere nice to stay. Like may be with in Kensington palace. Now that's something #britishroyalty should support.
Hugs and prayers to all those who suffer and will continue to suffer until #theevil in this world is eradicated.
Good people (religious, agnostics, atheists) need to BAND together.
We need to take off our blinders.
This is a crazy world. Getting crazier by the minute.

Yet another catastrophe in London. Father we dispatch angels now in Jesus mighty name to this high rise apartment. Please KEEP any survivors under the shadow of your wing. Let us hear of miraculous survivals. Please holy spirit comfort those who've lost family and loved ones.
We disarm every principality and spirits of death and mayhem over this region. Protect those calling upon your name and reveal yourself to those who don't know you through this tragedy. In Jesus name. Amen

Dropping babies from Windows...what a horrible thing to consider. What in the world are safety officials doing that is more important than planning a response to apartment tower fire? Even something as simple as some safety netting.

Grenfell Tower was built in 1974, according to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. In May 2016, a $14.47-million renovation was carried out on the tower, including adding new cladding and windows.

The construction firm that did the work said it "met all required building control, fire regulation, and health and safety standards."
