I know I should remember from my other two, but I forget, I got my cervex checked yesterday (2cm) for the first time this pregnancy and have had on and off again cramps since, is that good news on impending labor (due the 12th) or just cause of the checkup?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The doc didn't sweep your membranes without your consent, did they? I've heard of that happening. Of course you could just be going into labor naturally and it's just a coincidence in timing.

Yes I was definitely told that checking the cervix could cause cramping, without sweeping the membranes. If you are already beginning to efface and dialate sometimes it is just a small trigger into labor completely naturally......

Of the three times I've gone into natural labor, two were the day after an exam. The doctor didn't do anything to set it off in either case; in fact, they said it would be at least another week or two... but the exam was enough to trigger labor, because the time was right.

chrislife, I had my baby the day after an exam too! I was already 70% effaced and a centimeter or 2 dialated so it was just enough to get the show on the road later that evening.

Cause I was 40 weeks pregnant, and they have a theory that if you are not effaced or dialated then they can take longer getting ready to go meet you at the hospital, course It is only a theory.....
