Oy vay! Your idea has a certain Je ne sais quoi, but it lacks a certain machismo that would make any attempt to take it seriously totally meshuggeneh.

Can you count the number of languages I obviously speak?

Que?

And words?

Well, that's another mystery... but the ballpark figers range from anywhere from 50,000-200,000 years ago. No worries, though -- we humans do love trying to solve a good mystery!

Word of advice, my friend? The key to a good rhetorical question is to ask something that you know and the other fellow doesn't... so that you can make your point. Doing it the other way over and over again just looks foolish.

Do you believe the words came before the man...and then the alphabet followed?

Of course -- spoken language predates the invention of writing, which started with cuneiform around 6,000 BC. Then you've got your Egyptian hieroglyphics around 3,000 BC, and that proto-Semitic which led to both the Hebrew alphabet and the alphabet as we know it sometime around 2,000 BC...

Fight what? What specifically were you referring to in my post?

Why do we seek to save endangered species and remove non-native plants from regions,if it is survival of the fittest? Shouldn't we let the natives die off so that we can evolve to the next level?

Survival of the fittest is something nature does on its own. We as a society don't care about survival of the fittest, and will intervene in situations as we like.

Survival of the fittest isn't the only driver of evolutionary change. There's also selective breeding, attractiveness between mates, etc. Humans put selection pressures on other species in a variety of ways, and yes, we're part of nature.

So, are human beings the apex of the evolutionary process?
