I think it's a great word too.

I use it quite often.

Albeit not as a synonym for "a rigged vote" -- but as a synonym for "demoted".
Nothing was "demoted". Poor use of English by those who are unhappy is nothing more than poor use of English. It's one of your stocks-in-trade.

In another thread, someone made this comment:
If this is your sentiment as well, were you wrong about Pluto being our ninth planet?
You know that none of the physical characteristics are altered by changing the category Pluto exists in.

Why do you keep banging this drum.

And yes, I was wrong about Pluto being a planet but at the time, with the information I had it was easily done.

Yes. A rose by any other name is still a rose.

Because Pluto is the best example I can think of, whose characteristics were universally accepted for 76 years, then changed.

And one of those characteristics was the "fact" that Pluto was considered our ninth planet.

But how and why does it affect you in such a way that you feel it's something that you need to bring up every time you go off against science?

Give me something better, and I'll use that.

When I use Thalidomide, the Challenger, the Titanic, or the Hindenburg, the carpet sweepers complain I'm obsessed with death and disfigurement.

Give me something else to use as a poster child, and I'll consider it.

Until then ...

Titanic, Hindenburg and Challenger are all a mix of engineering and politics, no science or scientists involved whatsoever no matter what you continually say. And yes, when you bring them up along with thalidomide, you do give off the impression that you are reveling in death.

Pluto just makes no sense because it's like the biggest non-issue ever. "Oh, Pluto is no longer the 9th planet? Oh lordy, this will make my day all the more worse!" said no-one ever. Your fixation on it is just really bizarre.

Then ... for the umpteenth time ... quit whining about it and give me something better to use as a poster child.

Until then ...

It's less whining and more a question on why you even a poster child to begin with.

You mean like this?

30 October 1991: The Halloween Monster, a.k.a. The Perfect Storm, strikes the U.S. amid the "land-for-peace" Madrid peace talks; President Bush's ocean-side home destroyed.

23 August 1992: President Bush moves Madrid talks to U.S. soil; that very day, Hurricane Andrew devastates southern Florida.

16 January 1994: President Clinton meets with Syrian President Hafez Assad to discuss more "land for peace" arrangements; less than 24 hours later, a 6.9 earthquake pulverized southern California.

1 September 1993: President Clinton announces a meeting with Arafat for the Oslo peace accords, to be held on 13 September; after a week of meandering in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Emily hits North Carolina on that very day.

21 January 1998: while waiting to meet with Arafat at the White House, President Clinton's sex scandal breaks out.

27 September 1998: Arafat is meeting with the president in Washington; Hurricane Georges hits Alabama and stalls. The hurricane stalls until Arafat leaves and then it dissipates. Parts of Alabama declared a disaster area.

17 October 1998: Arafat comes to the Wye Plantation meeting; incredible rains fall on Texas, which cause record flooding. Parts of Texas declared a disaster area.

3 September 1999: Secretary of State Albright meets with Arafat in Israel; Hurricane Dennis comes ashore on this very day after weeks of changing course in the Atlantic Ocean.

12-26 July 2000: Arafat at the Camp David meetings. Powerful droughts throughout the country. Forest fires explode in West into uncontrollable fires. By the end of August, 7 million acres are burnt.

9 November 2000, two days after the presidential election: Arafat meets with President Clinton at the White House to try and salvage the peace process; worst election crisis in over 100 years occurs.

Psalm 83:15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA...

Either that, or HOW it got demoted.Either that, or ALL born again people are saints.

Paul used the term "saint," a lot more than he used the term "Christian."
Or you're just wrong. Imagine that.

And you're making a giant out of a windmill, Don Quixote.
I finally got around to reading Don Quixote last month, so I must object. Quixote's attack on the windmills, while foolish and based on misunderstanding, revealed a sincere, dedicated, caring individual. All I see in AV's case is someone with an unhealthy obsession acting the bufoon.

I still need to read Don Quixote. The oldest piece of fiction I've read has been Dante's Divine Comedy and I only got around to maybe the third canto of Purgatorio.

I know what you said about it.

But you certainly come across to me as living up to it.

Making stupid accusations, then refusing to answer any question(s) I try to justify myself with.

As if I have to.

Basically acting academic.

You answer questions with non-answers and non-sequiturs and loaded statements. Your attempts at justifying yourself come across as... oh lord, how to say on this on a Christian website...? Let's just go with very, very, very, VERY foolish.

And yes, when someone calls you out on something strange, you are expected to justify it. Though I will admit that simply going "because I want to" would be justification enough.

You are promoting and defending a stupid, ill-informed, ignorant position. There is no poster child for a dumb idea. Despite the best efforts of perhaps a dozen members you refuse to understand your argument is just wrong. There is zero justification for your position. Your insistence that there is just serves to confirm you have no idea what you are talking about and no idea about classification systems and no idea about how science functions. Rather than you repeatedly saying that science should take a hike, why don't you take a hike with this nonsense and leave it in a far distant desert where it belongs, then come back and start talking sense.
