You are promoting and defending a stupid, ill-informed, ignorant position. There is no poster child for a dumb idea.
Then either give me one, or accept the one I chose.

You see ... that's why I think Pluto's demotion is the best example.

It can't be topped.

So far, anyway.

It can be considered stupid, dumb, ignorant, wrong, or any other adjective deniers want to come up with; but they can't replace it with something that satisfies them.

And the reason for that, in my opinion, is because they want to stay dissatisfied.

But the only person showing dissatisfaction with it is you by you making a stink out of it. No-one else, just you.

And one of those characteristics was the "fact" that Pluto was considered our ninth planet.
That was neither a characteristic nor a property of Pluto. It was a characteristic of our description of it - in particular, it was the category characteristic, a characteristic of descriptions that is prone to change because it is typically arbitrary and functional, and sometimes the category criteria themselves change.

I could understand the upset if it had a material effect on your life, such as if you were approaching pension age and the government decided to change the criteria so that being a pensioner started a few years later than it had - as happened in the UK a while ago. But to get upset over the clarification of an ill-defined astronomical category? Yeesh...

I just don't care.
Think about it though (okay, try):

If my example is so low, then you guys should have no problem whatsoever coming up with a better example.

Instead, you want to tell me how [insert negative adjective here] it is.

And you know what's even funnier? you expect me to agree.

You must have me mixed up with the person in your mirror.

I don't care that Pluto isn't officially the ninth listed planet in our solar system. I have work to occupy enough of my time. The only person that ever makes a stink out of Pluto not being the ninth planet anymore is you and you alone on these forums.

Do you care that they rigged a vote to change it?

Since it's not really a massive deal in my day to day life and has no actual bearing on the way the world turns, no, I do not care.

Fair enough.

Don't expect me to don't care though.

Science does what it wants.

I did. All they did was say that in order to be called a "planet" something must be A, B and C. Pluto isn't. They just defined what it takes to be called a planet. No grand controversy, no rigging of a vote. I. Do. Not. Care.

And if you were honest you would admit you don't care either. What you do care about is screaming about scientists.

They should have thought about that in 1930, before they put Tombaugh's Folly up in lights.

What's that old saying?

A poster is in the eye of the beholder?

(Or maybe it's: A poster is worth a thousand words.)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and a picture is worth a thousand words.

Your posts show you have an obsession with Pluto being demoted, plain and simple.
