How my family has handled Christmas in the past: putting up a wooden cross in our living room with red outdoor lights wound around it and all of the Christmas cards our friends gave us hanging off the light strand from zip ties.

When I was younger, we put the cross in the front yard for our neighbors to see, and instead of the cards, hanging from the red outdoor light strand was a Merry CHRISTmas sign that I made and my dad laminated. We were very popular in our neighborhood.

I plan to continue this admittedly violent Christmas tradition in the future because of how funny it is. This year, however, I doubt any of our family will have time for it. I shall have to content myself with the Christmas singles group next week and going to the ladies' Christmas brunch, and buying my friends some gifts.

I am pretty excited. For the past couple of months I have been working on an illustrated Christmas book for children. Tonight I got my first printed copy of the book

Got 3 miniature trees set up at work with a nutcracker theme and lots of polyfill snow. Going to bring in surge protector with a timer for lights for tomorrow. In the process of looking for things I got some more of my indoor decorating done. Lights are on the tree but I still have to put the ornaments on and decorate the fireplace mantel.

I did a traditional Christmas theme of old items from my late grandmother's house over the dining room table. Hopefully my uncle will be able to enjoy looking at that during Christmas dinner. Also put some lights up with some evergreen around a mirror.View attachment 324209View attachment 324210

Got at least the ribbon done on the tree. Lights I did the other night. Did a couple more finishing touches on the sofa and a chair. Wanted to clear out a little bit of space before I get started on the Christmas cards.

Still no more to do outside with the back deck and solar lights. Been trying to figure out if I could get a life-size Nativity in the front yard. Got a configuration down in the basement I'm going to talk my parents about when they drop off their dog before they take off on their trip. Really want to focus on the meaning of Christmas. I'm going to do a little bit less with the lights outside and decoration. My aunt drove by the other day and text me that she liked my idea of birch logs in a basket and copied my style with her own on her front porch.

Tying ribbon that I had around the pillowcases save me money on buying pillow covers for Christmas decor. It's amazing how much ribbon can really can make things bougie.View attachment 324336

Just bought an outdoor nativity scene at 60% off from hobby lobby. It's pretty simple, I don't have the money to buy something extravagant. But I want to try to get the focus on the birth of christ. I also bought some kind of white ribbon that I'm going to put around my Advent wreath. My mom is going to come over tomorrow morning and take a look at where to place my nativity scene.

Christmas party with my Singles group on Sunday. Decided to make a jacket and dress for it today… made good progress, but still a lot to go. Very much doubting it will be done in time… but here’s hoping!!

I wanted to order a smoking jacket to look all fancy christmassy, but couldn't find one from seller with reviews that could ship it before Christmas is over. Thinking I'll have to wait until next Christmas. But I got a red vest and a royal blue one, so mixing and matching them with different color ties, dress shirts, and shoes has been fun.
