You got it backwards. I assume that the people are telling the truth. And truth is only known through God and experience. You are telling me to no longer believe that it is truth", but to consider that it could be just opinions spoken as truth and to just believe it without question if it sounds like it is from close to my interpretation of the bible......which i told you i was willing to consider. so what is the problem?
I'm telling you to pay attention to what people are saying

Which you aren't
And which is the problem already

What changes if I study it versus simply play it?

It's kind of my point.
Do you really want to find out if it changes anything?

Who the heck would purposely open themselves up to demonic activity?

I respect what everyone says. I would just like to know if they are speaking from experience or a word direct from God or if it is an opinion based off what they read and understood, or personal feelings. Is it wrong to want to know where a person is coming from? Would you be happier if I blindly believed everything I hear without further investigation? Would you be saying the same thing to me if I were questioning someone who stated Boards are good and not to let anyone make you fear them? I assure you that I would question that statement as well and have many times....I wanted to know if it is experience or opinions. Would you keep your position when i question someone encouraging board usage? Would you then tell me to just listen to the information without questioning? If your position would change maybe you should be questioning your own foundation.

In a discussion earlier today we were discussing what happens in the spiritual if a born-again believer uses a native war drum to worship God?

The current argument is that the redeemed individual sanctifies the instrument.

Following the logic, is a ouija board an acceptable tool to communicate with God?

(For the record, I am not, nor have I ever endorsed using a ouija board to talk to God)

If Satan had a telephone hotline, the Ouija Board would be it. STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM THE THING IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU! Anyone who says they've played with it and nothing has happened to them should consider themselves very lucky. Perhaps something bad did happen to them and they didn't put two and two together, or it was mild. Have you seen The Exorcist? You will never want to be in the same room as a Ouija Board ever again.

I don't believe objects are capable of being imbued with some kind of power. As a Christian I do not believe in magick.

1 Cor 10
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

A ouija board isn't anything but wood and plastic-

Does not matter th 1 Cor 10 statement applies to it all the same

Sorcerors in Egypt could pull off some magic tricks but God-empowered staff of Moses ate them up. Must say something ...

And Matt 4 - the devil tempts Christ "for real". All the actions of the devil are done for "real".

1 Cor 10:4 the devil is said to be "the god of this world"
Ephesians 2 - the prince of the power of the air

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Ephesians 6 says that only by putting on the full armor of God can the saints withstand the devil and his demons.

the only weapon provided is the sword of the word of God, and faith for a shield to defer the fiery darts. Satan's greatest weapon is in destroying faith in the word of God. The rest of the armor is the salvation that He provides brought in the gospel, His righteousness not ours, girded with His truth. I think the final words in that context is when having done all to stand. That's what satan's army are accused of is leaving their station. The world is now their stronghold so disentangling with it is also biblically recommended.

No, I've heard it's a good way to conjure up a demon spirit or spirits.

Oijah boards are used as a tool for divination, in an attempt to communicate with the dead. Divination is forbidden in the Old Testament. (I realize there are translation issues.)

The passage that forbids them allows for prophets. Enquiring of the LORD through prophets was allowed. Divination was not.

I am not familiar with the 'native war drum' issue. Is this a religious instrument? Some translations translate the notes on a Psalm to say 'upon an instrument of Gath', but that can be translated differently, and it would seem support for either translation is not well supported. But it could be that the scriptures instruct that a Psalm be sung on a Philistine instrument, or an instrument named after a Philistine city.

I know of no command in the Bible that forbids the use of ethnic instruments in praise of God.

Supposing the following set of truths:

I've been given all authority.

I'm not asking the board to answer my questions, I'm asking God to answer me through the board. Is it really any different than asking for a dream, or a sign, or proof of God?

If we apply the above set of truths, and I'm simply in all authority using a communication tool, is it then redeemed? Or does it remain demonic?

Where I live, there is much in the way of Indian (or Native Peoples) artwork and craftwork. Can I bring it into my home or do I need to fear the demons attached to it? Or can I simply cut them off (because He is greater and thus so am I) and accept a gift to honour another human whom God loves?

I believe that there are fallen angels and their chief is the devil or Satan, yes.

-CryptoLutheran

Then if some ignorant parent buys an Ouija board as a game, and they go by the instructions, who is moving the pointer to answer the questions.? Someone has to cheat and move it themselves?

Can I use a ouija board to communicate with God?

No.

Gods communication with all men is provided via Gods direction; of His WORD being "given By Him", "heard", "spoken" and "written".

It is mankind's "option" to seek to hear, read, learn Gods Word.

And thereafter, it is mankind's "option" to further, follow Gods WAY, for the man to then, receive "communication" directly from God, via His Spirit to the mans spirit.

God Bless,

Supposing the following set of truths:

I am a child of God and co-heir with Christ.
The power that raised Christ lives in me.
I've been given all authority.

co-heir of what?

Christ gives us His glory (John 17:22),
His riches (2 Corinthians 8:9),
and all things (Hebrews 1:2).

all authority?

Christ shares His authority with us. However Christ Jesus IS the Head Authority.
His sharing and giving is one thing. However no one can ever be "equal" with Christ.
Meaning, the "created" (mankind), can never "equal" or "become" the "un-created".

Therefore, if everything is under me, what am I to fear?

Everything IS under Christ Jesus.
Fear is an emotion that should affect the "un-saved".

Is there any thing that cannot be redeemed?

Sure. That which is NOT "whole", NOT "holy"; is not on the redemption list.

What makes anything Holy?

angels? ~ never deflecting from standing with God.
mankind? ~ changing from corrupt to becoming made "whole" (holiness of the body, soul and spirit).
animals? ~ they have no commandment to have faith in God.

Is it the object itself or the person using it?

The object itself is of no consequence.

It is the intent of the person using it. Meaning, the intent being, a man dictating God should communicated with the man, ACCORDING to how the man decides.
God decided and taught how He would communicate with mankind.

I understand some things are traditionally used for evil or worshipping evil (like ouija boards or native war drums) but does this mean a Christian is subject to its power?

(native war drums) evil? Never heard that before.
Regardless of "titles" ie Christian; individuals decide what they will "subject" themselves to.

And to be sure; Satan is always on the prowl to capture a person who is weak in their knowledge and understanding according to God.

I'm not asking the board to answer my questions, I'm asking God to answer me through the board.

Perhaps you should be asking yourself WHY, you are asking God to deflect from HIS WAY, (that He teaches is acceptable to Him) and instead accommodate what you have decided is your WAY.

Is it really any different than asking for a dream, or a sign, or proof of God?

You are indicating you TRUST to believe in God, but yet that you are not sure, and want God to "prove" His existence to you.

That is perplexing. Perhaps you should examine your own thoughts in your heart of what you believe, because either you trust to believe, or you don't.
And those who do trust to believe, also trust God is faithful, and WILL reveal Himself spiritually, daily, in His blessings and comfort; and WILL one day reveal Himself for all of mankind to SEE, that which they are not able to SEE with human eyes.

If we apply the above set of truths,

The TRUTH is God IS thee supreme authority. Christ Jesus is the HEAD of that authority.
Christ Jesus, is the possessor of ALL POWER, wisdom, truth, knowledge and understanding; and gives a man POWER, wisdom, truth, knowledge, understanding.
He shares with mankind what is His.

and I'm simply in all authority

Have you attained, ALL power, wisdom, truth, knowledge, understanding of ALL things?
If not. You are not in ALL authority.

using a communication tool,

Gods communication "tool" is His Word and His Spirit, not a man made Ouija board.

is it then redeemed?

No. Of course not. God does not teach His intent to redeem man made objects.

Or does it remain demonic?

"It" remains a piece of wood and plastic. Wood and plastic are not demonic. What is demonic is spiritual hosts that stand against God and influence others "hosts" of God to stand against God.

Where I live, there is much in the way of Indian (or Native Peoples) artwork and craftwork. Can I bring it into my home or do I need to fear the demons attached to it? Or can I simply cut them off (because He is greater and thus so am I) and accept a gift to honour another human whom God loves?

Crafts, art, objects, are subject to the eye of the beholder and further what meaning the "beholder" attaches to such objects. The "objects" themselves hold no power. For example; I can appreciate the crafting and beauty of an so called "dream-catcher". But yet; I would not worship it, and would hold zero thoughts or beliefs they have anything to do with "catching dreams" or protecting me from "bad" dreams.

God Bless,

LowPost42,

I did not see this earlier. And further see, you are questioning that which may apply to others, but not yourself. My apologies for directing my comments implying you were in support of using an Ouija board, when that is clearly by your own admission; not the case.

You know what it's used for
Follow what Paul would do for the sake of a weaker brothers conscience and don't (you being the stronger more spiritual sheep) use it

Please don't even suggest that one can use a ouija board to ask GOD questions

Is adding to GOD's WORD a sin?

It's cool. I've thoroughly enjoyed the discourse this topic has brought, and the litany of other questions it's brought to light.

Also be blessed!

This all is in line to 1 Corinthians 10

If you know that the object was used to worship idle/idols, you wouldn't become an obstacle before your brother

Eapecially after telling them that you belong to CHRIST

Your freedom will lead a weaker brother into sin and you are the cause because they've would look to you as their superior and you looked more to serve your amassed superior knowledge than your weaker brother's conscience
