Can Christian borrow?

Perhaps a different translation will help with the Deuteronomy question.

From the NIV:
12 The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

This would then be telling the Jews not to borrow from other nations, but to be able to either make everything for themselves or be able to pay for what they need, and not trust other humans for what they need but don't have any means of getting. Only God may do that for them.

As for Romans, I honestly don't know. If we love each other, aren't we OBLIGATED to give others what they need and accept repayment if they desire to give it?

And it's fine to borrow from banks and other instituitions, because they aren't people. They're non-person entities. At least in US law. :thumbsup: :D :p

I hope someone who knows better than I can help you with that.
