  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i got carpal tunnel, docs say is cuz i spend too much time on the computer and my hand that holds my mouse is getting nerve damage.

Recent studies don't support a connection between computer use and CTS. The linked article is typical of the way the current literature is heading. The primary cause of CTS in most cases is unknown. But--once you have CTS--then any kind of repetitive hand use will aggravate it. Your best bet is to wear a non-rigid wrist support when you're on the computer, and when sleeping. Nerve and tendon gliding exercises may help relieve the symptoms. You should take regular breaks from the computer every 15 min. There is data that vitamin B6 supplements may help some people. A steroid injection into the carpal tunnel can provide quite a lot of relief temporarily. But surgery is the only treatment with the best evidence of cure. Good luck.

It is also a good idea to exercise your wrists every so often throughout the day. Rotating them around, and bending them forth and back to loosen up the tendons.

Actually that does work. The girl that does my massage wants me to do more exercise and stretching. Amazon sells stretching bands for less then $10 that makes exercise a lot more fun and helps with the tendons. Even if I have a sore neck it can help with that more then a massage. In China you see all the old people out in the park early in the morning doing their exercise and stretching. People in sports say that the stretching exercise is very important to avoid injury.

A good mouse will also depend on your hand size.
Most "Good" mice that I've seen advertised don't work well for me just because they're too small. Right now I'm using the Kensington K72370 Though I'd rather have one a bit larger, but those tend to be "Gaming" Mice with their added $$$$

i got a ergonomic mouse now but it still hurts i have to use my left hand or a trackball mouse atm which is really annoying. can anyone recomend a good mouse?
Take a break from the computer while you're at home. Like, don't go on it for a whole week at home, or longer (maybe you need to go on it at work still).

That will help your hand heal.

I do a lot of CAD schematics and graphics, I find that my Logitech Trackman wheel does not inflict the pain that a typical mouse does.

The wireless model is not as reliable as the wired USB version.

YMMV.
