I do believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit still function in these days, and I have witnessed someone to speak me something only God could know.
There are many people, usually found in Charismatic churches, that have found freedom to exercise this gift from the Holy Spirit.
But a typical secular psychic asks money for services, and some do not credit God for their insight. Scriptures speak against prophets who gain personally.
If you leave God completely out of the picture and consider it your own gift, then beware that there are supernatural forces out there that can take advantage of your openness. The information comes from
somewhere -- make sure it is a credible source.
Scripturally, the devil makes efforts to confuse, deceive, accuse, and destroy. He also acts as an angel of light -- appearing beneficial at first sight.
Eze 13:3
Woe to the foolish prophets who are following their own spirit and have seen nothing.
Isa 2:6
For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled with influences from the east, And they are soothsayers like the Philistines, And they strike bargains with the children of foreigners.
Jer 27:9
But as for you, do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your soothsayers or your sorcerers who speak to you, saying, 'You will not serve the king of Babylon.'
Isaiah 5
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight!
Just be careful.
Most of the people in the dreams and visions subforum could support you in your gift. There have also been threads in the Spirit-filled forum where people offer each other prophetic words.
