Someone just sent me a link to an audio talk related to this. There might be parts that you disagree with theologically or personally, but it has some useful insights.

http://www.omegaministry.org/Messages/Witchcraft-Public-Enemy-Number-One.mp3

One statement he makes, is that in taking in the prophecy of a psychic, and accepting it as fact, a person can give permission for it to happen. For example, if they foretell an accident, and you fear they are right, you give power to that fear and license to go ahead with it when it appears inevitable to you.

All this in the unseen realm can start to seem crazy after a while. But if we get a little bit into the supernatural realm, we are already a lot into it.

Please be watchful that as you receive information prophetically that you are not unintentionally inviting evil spirits to speak curses into your life!
As you except what is spoken to you ,you are receiving into your spirit what the evil one desires for your life!

General rule of thumb: anyone who calls himself or herself a "psychic" at the very least has a poor understanding of the prophetic, and at worst is a wolf. Do not consult psychics, mediums, spiritists, mind-readers, fortune-tellers, sorcerers, shamans, or sprit-guides. This is all divination and witchcraft.

Here's a very good article on divination.

Thanks. Ive seen a psychic that claimed to be christian but it was for a price that I was supposed to get the information she had. I thought this would be a sign she was false, but I paid anyway. Even though this person said they were not into the occult I hope my life isn't being impacted by this decision negatively.

No Christian would claim they are a psychic, but a psychic who claims they are a Christian are a liar, because no Christian would claim to be a psychic.

You have been deceived by the "father of lies". There are consequences of all actions we do, and when we make a mistake as in the case as you did, then you take it to our Lord Jesus Christ through confession and REPENTANCE, and ask HIM for forgiveness. And then cut off all power from Satan and his forces that works through the psychic.

Blessings.:)

Ok. This woman claimed to be a christian and I was only looking for someone with prophetic ability from the Holy Spirit. I was not looking for a witch by any means. We must remember that the apostles did things that seem occult like drawing lots and things of that nature. Sorry, but I was not able to determine if the pratices she was doing where occult or not. Next time Ill try harder to research but even then I cannot be sure because I cannot see the spiritual world like that.

I have been used by the Lord at times in corporate, at other times in personal prophecy, and that has caused people to seek me out sometimes to see if I "have a word" for them. I feel like they are wanting a psychic or shaman - someone to hear from the Lord on their behalf. We all need to learn to hear Him for ourselves, and to wait on Him. If He wants us to get something from another person, He will give it, I am confident.....

From personal experience I believe in prophecy from God. You can use any of your gifts for good or evil. I'd personally think certain things should be kept private.
I find this too. There's a limit even to where Christian prophecy will benefit -- if information gets to public, it is subject to others' judgment and to gossip. Then we are fending off extra things in addition to the first problem.

You did what you thought was right at the time. Then you sought out more truth here from Christians, and are getting a broader set of evidence and information. That's what we humans have to do -- build on what we know to be true. God understands that we weren't born with all knowledge and wisdom. Forums are so helpful, because we can learn from each other.

And this is important. Prophecy is very scriptural. But we can sometimes feel the pull of insecurity, where people are afraid that God won't speak to them, so they go to someone who they think will give a sure-thing message from God.

God walked with man in the Garden, spoke directly to Moses, gave Noah blueprints, chose Mary to bear Jesus, called David a man after His own heart. He is a God who likes to connect directly with people, and does not give preference to those with religious training or public influence. He worked with shepherds, fishermen, and babies.

This might be a good time to seek out a church where the prophetic gift is accepted. Instead of going to one person for one word, find a community of people who understand the whole realm, and include you in the lifestyle of watching God's giftings at work.

You might be able to find mid-week meetings or home groups, so you wouldn't need to leave your own church. If your area has a Christian newspaper or web site, you might find some meetings there. Look for keywords like House of Prayer (HOP or IHOP), soaking, Holy Spirit, Charismatic, miracle.

I don't endorse all fellowships with these keywords, and believe that you need to watch out for some of them. But sitting in on one will give you an idea of whether to stay or move on to the next. All fellowships are different -- even from year to year.

I believe that Christian's have the gifts of prophesy and discernment, but not to be a psychic, which the bible speaks about ,I believe in Deuteronomy. Remember for everything that is real that God has, Satan always has a counterfit.

Jesus peformed miracles (healing), the devil had "lying wonders".
Followers of Jesus spoke in tongues, the devil's followers spake devilish tongues.
Christian's have prophets, the satan has psychics.
and the list goes on.....

can a christian be a physcic, no....Christians can operate prophetically not phsycically. the difference is in where the power is coming from. in the case of the physicic it is the relm of the soul..(physche) God does not operate here, but the devil does. God operates in the realm of the Spirit (nooma) which is where prophectic word comes from.

The people I spoke to insist that they do not do anything evil.
They openly disobey God in a very serious area and play the devil's advocate by enticing others to join them. It was a death penalty offense in the OT. The saddest of the lot are the ones that think their power comes from God because they go to a Christian church, but learned their craft from occult sources.

The problem with such people is that they have no basis to really control or distinguish between who is actually communicating. I have prayed for many such people over the years, and there has always been a spiritual blockage that actually prevents them seeing right from wrong spiritually, and in many cases the people had strong physical reactions, including an inability to say the name 'Jesus'.

There is only one safe way into the spiritual realm, and that is with Jesus.
