Mat 18:1-6
1) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2) And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6) But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

What are you saying, Jesus is making a point, what are you getting out of that, or what is it that this is supposed to make clear?

Well then he had no business preaching in the ancient world where pedophilia was the norm not the exception like today. The reason it is an abomination today is because of the influence of the Gospel and the Word. Back then it was the accepted and totally normalized practice of all the nations outside Ancient Israel. What do you think the primary reason for half the worlds population being enslaved was?

Nobody is arguing pedophilia is not a sin but my take on Christianity as a Lutheran is not about "sin management". We should refrain from this type of behavior not because we'll go to hell, but because, more importantly, its not the right way to treat children.

True faith makes us other-directed and not self-centered. That's a very different ethic from "if you do this, God will send you to hell". No, we should be good people just because its good.

And could you please post the full scriptures so we can see where those things are called an actual abomination? I mean that was your point right?

Like I said, you need to pay attention, you are jumping the gun with the accusations. I never once said there weren't bad sins, nothing even close to that. And you name a bunch of bad sins then act as if I said there weren't any...amazing.

Hope this gives you some light on your OP.


First, your verse, is speaking about Christians, not about children in general.

Second.

Isa. 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Thirdly.

Rom. 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

This last verse means, we have all taken our part in placing Jesus on that Cross, no one is any better than anyone else, there are no degrees of Sin with God, all sin deserves the Death penalty.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the Pedophile but we all need to understand where we stand ourselves in the overall plan of God.

You are making things up now, I assume no such thing, I feel that all men are capable of twisting the truth, and this to me seems like a prime example.

I was accused of taking cheap shots, arguing, not debating, yet not one person here can see they are just as bad, and dong exactly that.

However, that's fine, it never bothers me, even when it's as obvious as it is here, because it tells a story, one that I'm just fine with, and have seen all too often..

Of course people can be wrong but if the knowledge of going to school for years is as good as reading the Bible with a minimal education, then we might as well say the whole project of trying to be a Christian is done. If skepticism is as good as a reasoned argument, truth is done, at least as insofar as we can speak of truth at all.

Remember, the first great commandment is to love God with all our mind.

Not for us to judge, that is God's decision and his alone, based upon what happened with Saul, I'd say perhaps so and its for his judgement not ours.
