I finally picked up the courage today to tell someone I've been saved by Jesus. After being told by a pastor on Good Friday of accepting my transition from Catholic to (born again) Christian it took me only four days to properly tell someone. My seed is sown, I'm not going back!

That's great. Seems like so many are crossing the Tiber instead these days. God bless.

No, I'm not thinking of that yet. I want to know my true Christian before taking the plunge.
Keep feeding daily on God's Word. Hebrews is a wonderful book of the New Testament which shows so clearly how the Person and Work of the Lord Jesus - and the truth basis which He gloriously shows - are so much better than the rituals and shadows of the Old Testament which are still copied today but not understood.

Bible says believe and be baptized. I'm not attempting to sway you into denominational doctrinal mumbo jumbo.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Acts of the Apostles 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
1 Peter 3:21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

So baptism is not necessary for salvation in the sense that only Jesus can save us. He is our only Savior. And the act of baptism, itself, does not save us. But this does not mean that baptism is not important. It does not mean that we can be baptized or not as we choose—once we have believed on Jesus and accepted Him as our Savior. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15, NKJV). And He has commanded us to be baptized (see Matthew 28:18-20). A person who loves Jesus and accepts Him as his or her Savior, will want to follow Him in baptism.

Baptism is important, because it is a public declaration that we have accepted Jesus and are turning our back on the old life of sin and are now trusting Jesus to live a new life as a Christian. When we are placed under the water and raised back out of it, we are symbolically stating that we have died to sin, that our old life of sin has been buried, and that we have been raised to new life in Jesus—just as He died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life again (see Romans 6:3-5).

It could also be said that baptism is a work that we do in faith. Else if you just say you have faith and have no works to show you have changed, is your faith not dead? Would it just be a glass house?

Congratulations on your move.

Let it be known, this is what Jesus said on the subject.

Mar 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

The two go hand in hand, at this point in your walk, you are a BELIEVER, after your Baptism, then and only then will you become BORN AGAIN

Joh 3:5,6
5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Until you become Baptized, you will remain in the FLESH, as a Believer who has not received the Holy Spirit.

I Made the same journey you are now beginning, some 50 yrs. ago.

I've established a routine whereby I praise God and read the Bible for about 30 minutes first thing when I wake up and last thing before I sleep. I've only started on John but I'm already enjoying it.

If you told me I'd be taking this journey six months ago I would have been very hesitant about getting baptised. Now, I know it is a public statement, but I want to figure out first how deep this goes. I'm letting God at the wheel and watching my journey unfold. It's so exciting.

Thank you for your post though, it is definitely something worth considering, and having a friend in a similar situation (Catholic, now saved and beginning a transition) I am hoping to walk this journey with someone else sharing the road.

It's becoming clearer to me now that baptism is the next step. However, I'm not rushing this. I'm letting Him guide me.

I squandered my faith believing I could take on the world of men, without being in danger from the Devil - big mistake.

As much as you believe now, have faith in God's word that it will be that way in the end.

We will be together in the Lord, when my folly and your righteousness help us see eye to eye!
