Um ... I do believe the slogan is AMERICA FIRST -- not AMERICANS FIRST.

Question: Which country do you want to be first?

Afghanistan... assuming you mean alphabetically.

Obviously some of the N.T. is allegorical, Regarding "Jesus believe it" bring it on, lets talk specifics. I am not trying to tell people what they should believe, I am pointing out the facts that there are differences of opinion even among scholars as to what should be considered literal as well as what a specific scripture means.

You're trying to bring facts to people who believe that God speaks to them personally... trust me, it's been tried.

Yes, you can still be saved. The Church actually signed on to evolution.

Ah, but then the creationists will just claim the "Church" is lost and quote Matthew 7:14 to prove it.

Is ONLY the work of bible scholars to be considered?
No other scholar?

I've seen the work of "other scholars;" and they can take a hike.

I suspect if they knew or cared about you, the feeling would be mutual.

I think The Church has accepted that not everything in the Bible is littoral.

Most isnt.
Only a few things like walking on water
and baby Moses in the basket are.

Yes, indeed.

Those are literal.

(Except baby Moses was in an ark, not a basket.)

I. for one, will say that, yes, this could be the case, and not just because I'm a Charlton Heston fan. ;)

... although, I do have to say, too, that if we're lucky enough to be someone who reads all the way through Genesis and makes it to Exodus, then our engagement with the biblical text begins to turn on whether we are scientific MINIMALISTS, CENTRISTS or MAXIMALISTS. At that point, the interplay we think we find between the Exodus text, archaeological evidence, and our chosen hermeneutical measures (or lack thereof) affects our acceptance of what we read.

It can get quite messy, but I like to think the text reflects and represents some history, despite what the naysayers say.

I guess my literary-ness makes me a basket case where Moses is concerned.

Thank you.

My "rewards" trump your Post 206, don't they?

Depends on who you're trying to impress.

Don't worry -- you're not the first person to bluescreen when Jesus is referred to... and you won't be the last.

Obviously we're dealing with a dead, apostate "Church" unworthy of the name...

That's a pretty bold statement about The Catholic Church. There are parables, instructions, history, and poetry. Many dimensions to the Bible.
