  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There's always Ziggy...Marley.

I saw Ziggy years and years ago back when David Letterman was doing "Late Night" and I got studio tickets to see a show taping, then a few years ago I saw Ziggy & The Melody Makers play a whole show (versus the 1 song they did on Letterman) ... awesome! Great music, just about as good as Dad's!

REST IN PEACE BOB!!!!!!!!!!

---
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
Dese songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom

Yup, and in 2000 the remaining members of the Dead toured that summer as "The Other Ones" with Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers as the opening act. Awesome!!!

3 shows on the tour Ziggy & Company came out and they all together jammed a version of "Stir It Up" and one show they all played "I Shot The Sheriff"

Oh so sweet!

That's a decent album. Woeful hardly but then again tis all quite subjective ain't it? besides, it was his first solo album, i believe. poles apart? I wouldn't go that far. Bob's thought to be superior over Ziggy mostly because Bob's a legend. Ziggy's not bad, though! Ask the millions of people who love his music. But then again there are always people who still think they're right even if they're outnumbered 22,000,000 to 1.

I'll stick with 'woeful'. Do you have an idea for a better Ziggy song/album? (Considering you believe that this was just 'his first'; implying he got better).

His first album was actually called "Conscious Party" and it's got good songs on it. Everything he's done after that has been better. If you think he's done nothing good then you have a very narrow view of good music.

Good day.

Bob Marley's nice, but I mostly stopped listening to him @ 25, 26. Doesn't everyone and his brother have "Legend"? If people claim to like reggae, I turn them onto Jimmy Cliff, whose albums I STILL listen to, or Toots & the Maytals. Their cover of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is incredible, as is the whole Funky Kingston album. If you like Marley, check these out. Ziggy is still goo- did you hear "True To Myself" off the Dragonfly disc? Great!!!

First my brother and now my son..........both love 'Uncle Bob' as my son calls him. :D My brother had all his albums until a fire destroyed everything he owned - (thankfully, he was out when his house caught fire) - and my son has a good collection too. My brother even has the name 'Bob Marley' tattooed on his arm in large lettering. It looks pretty cool, too. He had it done when he was only 14.

My sister lived in Melbourne for many years and one day she went to a shopping mall and who should she see strolling through, but Bob himself! He was on tour there. She plucked up the courage to go and say hello to him, as she likes his music too, and she told us later that they chatted for about half an hour. That was definitely a treasured memory for her. :)

Strangely enough, ;) my all-time favourite song by Bob is:

No Woman, No Cry!! :D ^_^
