  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The katakana talk is getting a bit odd for an anime.... "No commentu" etc... bleh..

And Rukia cuddling that stuffed animal just didn't seem right XD

I hope Ishida gets his powers back...
Speaking of Ishida, does anyone know/remember the episode #'s for when Ishida fights that wierd Shinigami and stuff?
I want that ep. # and the one when that Minos thing appeared and Ichigo kicked it's butt :p
If anyone knows that is ....

Is that what the English-Japanese talk is called, katakana? I always think it's real funny. Anyway the episode where Ishida beats the weirdo captain is episode 44, it's called "Ishida, Power of Limits!". I'm liking this bounto sub-plot thing going on now. Pretty cool. Too bad we have to wait till March 7 for the next episode.

Yeah, katakana is the the english in japanese thing...

Cheese, Chizu, etc..

Thanks for the ep # :D

Bounto is pretty cool, I like it so far too, I just wish Ishida wasn't the "weakest target" and all... I'm hoping this will spring into a quest for him to re-gain his powers.

Well, not exactly. Katakana is one of the "alphabets" of Japanese.

the three sets of characters are

1. Katakana
2. Hiragana
3. Kanji

Katakana is used to spell foreign words (ex. Cheese - Chizu, Ice Cream - Aissu kuremu), as well as names when not written in Kanji. Hiragana is used to write Japanese words (ex. Thanks - Arigotou, Please - Onagai, Sorry - Gomen). both Hiragana and Katakana are about 60 characters each. Kanji however is an adopted Chinese character set. There are well over 3,000 Kanji used in everyday Japanese society. They are used to Shorten writing since each kanji ussually represents an entire word, whereas Hiragana is used to sound out words.

When Japanese speak english and it sounds a bit off. It's commonly called Engrish.

Ah so when Don Kanoji speaks "English" it's not actually English, it's Katakana, or is it? I mean he says "Wonderful and great!!" which doesn't need to be translated in this way.

Well, It's not Katakana unles it's written in Katakana. When Don Kanonji is speaking english It's technically still english. But since he is pronouncing it with Japanese Phonemes (In Japanese all consonant sounds have a vowel enging except for "n", most of the english words he speaks sound kind of wierd, cause they get extra sounds thrown into them. While still english, most people call it engrish to differentiate.

so why would a japanese dude be speaking english anyway in the middle of japan?

Like that Bounto guy kept saying, "No Commento" or whatever.. Do people in Japan understand it when Kanonji and the Bounto guy say stuff like that?

they would understand simple english because english is part of the Japanese school curriculum. Most don't become very fluent though.

Japanese people also like english from what I'm told. like how Americans think japanese looks cool. The Japanese fell the same way about english. That is just what I'm told. I don't knoiw that for a fact.

it would make sense though sense they like to copy stuff from europe and america.

I think all that started in the Meiji Era.

What I mean by copy is like music, skiing, clothing, most of that stuff came from eastern and western countries.
But they found a way to make a lot of that stuff their own, and I find that cool^^
