Well we were pretty heavy on discussion just about every day at the beginning, but like most things it is easy to drift away from. But please feel free to give your opinion or thoughts on verses whenever you wish, Kohl. Perhaps it can spark some discussion. :)

Wednesday: Psalms 90 through 92
Gonna do this today....as soon as I get more coffee!

Psalm 90
Teach us to number our days...

Do you know some people dont have birthdays and dont even know how old they are? Imagine never knowing and not ever celebrating one.

Good reason for birthdays. I used to think birthdays as I got older were embrassing but, then I heard some parents dont even give their children birthdays and wish they hadnt been born. How horrible is that?

It says in the bible that we are to number our days so...
If that means having a party and a cake with a number on it, why not.

Thoughts on the reading.
Ps.90
The eternal nature of God is put up against the fleeting life of man. God is from everlasting to everlasting (v2) but man is fleeting (v3-6). I think you also see God's nature (holiness, steadfast love, faithfulness, etc) against the nature of man to be unfaithful. The psalmist (Moses) asks the Lord to show pity to his servants. I love verse 2 and I find great comfort in the knowledge that God has always been and will always be.

Ps.91
This psalm is full of beautiful and comforting verses. My personal favorites are v.2,4, and 14-16. This psalm is a reminder of God's faithfulness and trustworthiness. We all need reminders of these things from time to time. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight or forget that the Lord is faithful or trustworthy in the face of distress, heartache, confusion, pain, or fear.

Ps.92
This psalm is one of thanks and praise. The psalmist speaks of God's steadfast love and faithfulness. It is also a contrast between the righteous and the unrighteous.

Thank you for your inputs on these last few Psalms, Miss Traveler and Goodbook.

For my part, the only real observation that flashed through my mind as I read them was for Psalm 90, in which I observed that in my NASB the subheading under Psalm 90 before the first verse was "God's Eternity and Man's Transitoriness".

I immediately thought of what the traditional Christian doctrine of man's inherently immortal soul (such that he spends a conscious eternity somewhere after Earthly death no matter what: heaven or hell) suggests, that death on earth for a man is nothing more than a transition from a physical body to a spiritual realm, still alive in one way or another. ... Imagine this meant that I actually got the meaning of the word "transitoriness" all wrong; at least according to Webster, the definition actually suggests what conditionalists like myself believe, that man is entirely brief and fleeting, not just in body but as a soul. Thus the term "transitoriness" was naturally used for man as a contrast to God for His having no beginning or end, here in this subheading. And then Psalm 90 goes on from Moses' point of view to say in so many terms just how fleeting humans are before the Almighty. He could sweep us all away into the dust from which He created us in the blink of an eye, I am sure, however Moses prays that our good God instead remembers His people, no matter how small or corrupt they may be before Him,, and gives them "lovingkindness in the morning".

gospel of John is a favourite of many christians.

Its quite different from the other gospels in the way its introduced.
What strikes me is that john the baptist tells everyone behold, the Lamb of God.

Straightaway. Nobody has to guess. Nathanel declares he is King of Israel and the son of God. Theres no long geneology or explanation of Jesus birth. Jesus first miracle is at a wedding. Its not a healing or casting of demons, but a miracle that isnt even out of compassion for the lost..I find that interesting. Cos Mary his mother seemed to bully him into it.

Still getting through and trying to keep track of all of the generations of men since the beginning of human creation there in the first chapter of Chronicles. ^-^

But for today's reading, we have Psalms 93 through 95.

Daniel's backstory at the beginning of this book is entertaining as always. Reminds me of my days as a child reading the Precious Moments book that interprets parts of the Bible into a story form suitable for little ones.:)
