Tuesday: History

2 Kings 11 through 15
____________

Just wanted to make note that I liked the story of Jehoash (Joash) becoming king over Judah at such a young age here in chapter 11, and it was only made so because he was rescued from the murderous rampage of Athaliah. But Joash was one of relatively few kings in the history of Israel and Judah put forth here in the OT as having honored God well with his actions as king (most others are said to have done evil in God's eyes throughout Kings and Chronicles, mainly because it seems the dishonorable kings in Israel and Judah would end up encouraging their people to follow after other, made-up gods like Baal, forgetting the real God who saved them from Egypt and made them a chosen and special people for Himself).

I'm not sure what it is exactly, but the wording when covering Jesus' resurrection and Him showing Himself again to His disciples here at the end of Luke is my favorite in the gospels. Suffering and death first, but then all leading up the hope-inspiring miracle of rebirth and words and actions of amazement, faith, and comfort.:) We will all die and be forgotten one day, because of sin entering the world, but by God's grace we all will be able to live again forever if we but just take that first step to believe. (And who knows; the hopeful words as they appear here in Luke just give me that sense that universal reconciliation is in fact a legit Biblical possibility. Not really any specific verse, just the general aura of the scene, I guess.)

Btu anyway, for Sunday we will be reading from 1 Thessalonians 1 through 3.

Well we were pretty heavy on discussion just about every day at the beginning, but like most things it is easy to drift away from. But please feel free to give your opinion or thoughts on verses whenever you wish, Kohl. Perhaps it can spark some discussion. :)
