  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

And you're wrong too -- as usual.

(And don't play that card on me, when you guys argue against Darwin not making a deathbed confession. I get the same impression with you.)

So wait, the winking thumbs-up guy in reference to Revelation was supposed to be a "I'm sorry that God is going rain his wrath upon you" guy? Because the only times I've seen you refer to Revelation or the end-times has you skipping around in glee over the special place you think you'll be getting.

The thumbs-up was to emphasize my point that Revelation is going to be a time of big-time 'shenanigans'.

Oh, I think we can find a happy medium.

What you 'know' today will look like this tomorrow:

Ever learning, Nathan -- people are 'ever learning'.

2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Cool story bro.

I'm excited for the 'enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads.'

Now that I could look forward to seeing.

That applies to you more than it does us. You already have your absolute and infallible knowledge of the truth, don't you?

Ah, I love this.

You read that and decide that it means that we'll never have any knowledge from science, so why even bother trying to get it?

I read that and interpret it as saying while there will always be things we don't understand, continued investigation and learning will get us closer and closer to the truth.

It's like that old joke about the mathematician and the engineer in the bar. The bartender catches them eyeing a beautiful young lady and says, "You guys should go over and strike up a conversation!"

The mathematician says, "I can't do that! I'll have to cover half the distance, and then half the remaining distance, and then half of the remaining distance again, and so on forever! I'll never get over there!"

At this, the engineer gets up and starts walking towards the girl.

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" calls the mathematician. "You'll never get all the way over to her!"

"Ah," says the engineer, "but I'll get close enough for all practical purposes!"

I read that, Tiberius, and I see people who, for all their knowledge, can't discern the spiritual world.

Luke 12:56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

Why?

Because, in my opinion, they set up mental blocks that prevent them from taking that extra step and making allowances for the spiritual.

And it all comes down to pride or anger.

Ah, pride and anger.

Every time I try to make a point - one of my special, wierd, convoluted points - and I see people "not discerning" it, I start to wonder: where could I improve my reasoning? How could I explain it better? Did I make a mistake in my argumentation? In my reasoning? Is my whole point just plain wrong and stupid?

This is pride and anger.

But repeating a point over and over again, without trying to consider, ignoring questions and requests for explanations, not taking into account criticism and corrections... that certainly is true humility.

Why would anyone witnessing for god need to bear false witness?

Could be an acid test for whether someone really is wirnessing for god, or, for something else.
Dog eat dog Darwinism and all that it has grown to mean, denies God in every way, but the open honest way. ..Like those that try to protect it.

What? You think the ark has magical powers? Wow. Real departure from Judeo-Christianity there. Looks like you have a false idol with the ark.
?? You kidding? In case it is news, the ark was captured, and they put in in with Dagon, and it was found bowed before the ark next morning.

Apparently Dagon fell out of fashion after that...

Look again:
"To my mind it accords better with what we know of the laws impressed on matter by the Creator, that the production and extinction of the past and present inhabitants of the world should have been due to secondary causes, like those determining the birth and death of the individual." C. Darwin, On the Origin of Species,pg. 449.
Godless gibberish. Give the guy a bannana

Is this part of that delusion of power and authority you subscribe to? Furthermore, is this the only way you can think of to express it?

it's all about power for the fundies, isn't it?
No. That is a given. Total power to Jesus and believers soon.

Anyone who doesn't share your belief is somehow blind...

What Darwin is implying here is that we should take it based on natural processes like birth, not with data as the defining factor. Here you can see that natural processes must take precedence over data in refuting occasions of overlapping metaphysical activity.

Indeed -- the creationists' pride that causes them to invent something so that they can lord it over people who actually work for their knowledge, and their anger when we fail to find them as brilliant as they find themselves.
