I had a Christian brother ask me if I had an x-ray to back my claim. He may have needed that but I sure didn't. Does anyone living today have a movie of Christ rising from the dead?

YES!

It is called a Testimony from those that were there. It is all that is needed in a court of Law.

The bible is talking there about things that are not true, or gossip, will you please tell us why you don't believe what the video said about Hinn is fact? Or why you believe all that was said about him was a "tale"? These people did an in depth investigation, showed documentation. What else do you want?

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Those people are criticizing evil and the exposa is not idle gossip in any way shape of form.

In your way of thinking Christ should not have said a word about the pharisees, yet he reproved them in public, something far from gossip. You are using/even twisting scripture to perpetuate evil, or at the very least to defend it...think about it.

I believe pointing fingers to particular people violates the flaming rules of this forum. thanks for asking tho.

I think that I read that if the accusations are "Validated", ie. books, productions and videos it was acceptable to tell the truth.

I have copied this thread from another forum to give a more general group of people from different denominations the opportunity to respond without getting themselves into trouble. I would appreciate if people didn't aim comments at me personally, but to comment on the issues instead. Then we can have a good, even if very spirited discussion for and against what I might be implying. Here is the post I entered in the other forum:

I know that there have been threads on this topic before and there has been quite a range of views, some very supportive, and others fairly harsh and unloving toward him.
The first question to be asked - Is he a born again Christian brother? If he is, then we have to love him as Christ loves us, because if we cannot love him like that, we know really know God at all, because God is pure love.
The next question I have is, does he preach the Lordship of Christ, the need to receive Christ as Saviour, the need to repent, and the necessity of living a holy life before God? If so, he cannot be a false preacher or teacher, because he is teaching the fundamentals of the Christian faith.
The next question is: are the manifestations of falling over in the Spirit and other manifestation associated with his ministry true or false? Well, if he is preaching truth as I have defined above, there is a good indication that the manifestations are true also.
Do we all agree with what he does and how he does it? No, and this is quite normal because we all have different perspectives and callings. We all do things differently, but because there is a diversity of gifts, callings and methods, that doesn't mean that just because we disagree, that it is actually false and not of God.

A false teacher or preacher is not a genuine born again believer in Christ. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He does not promote the Lordship of Christ, quite the opposite, he will promote New Age self dependence, and say that Number One is the most important person to be considered (by that I mean self, and self improvement). He will also promote liberalism in that it is not necessary to live a holy life, because Jesus forgave all sin, so it won't matter if we keep sinning. We won't be subject to any consequences if we sleep around, get involved in the occult, consult fortune tellers, because psychics can guide people just as well as the Holy Spirit. This is how the New Testament defines a false prophet, teacher, or preacher.

Just because a Charismatic preacher has unusual manifestations in his meetings and whole groups of people are slain in the Spirit, it doesn't mean that he is a false teacher. Actually, God is not very concerned about manifestations unless they are so out of control that they promote riotous living and lawlessness and a lack of self-control in people's daily living.

I just thought I would chuck that into the pot and see what boils up.

I saw a preaching of Benny Hinn once where he described how angry he was at a certain person. I don't see anything wrong with that - all persons, even those who profess to be followers of Christ, gets angry at times. What caught my attention was how he planned to settle that anger. He said, he'll punched that person very hard (not the exact words) then apologize to the Holy Spirit afterwards. It may just be a minor declaration for some, or even a funny intermission for others, but for me it speaks a lot of how we see the grace of God. Just because God is easy to forgive, it doesn't mean that we'll go on intentionally committing sins one after another, anyway we're assured that God will forgive us. This is a classic example of cheap grace. It demeans God's character but more importantly it misrepresents God - merciful but at the same time a just God, a consuming fire. I didn't hear him say that the congregation should follow suit. But his example could very well mislead anyone especially those who are new to the faith. Is he a false prophet? I don't have the luxury of time to analyze every preaching he delivered so I cannot judge for myself. After I watched the episode I described above, I didn't listen to any of his preaching anymore. I don't want my spiritual life be influenced by persons like him. As followers of Christ I want to follow or hear from those persons who truly follow Him.

Pretty sure I know the incident you mention, and it just got him attention from his followers. He's so far gone, I doubt he cares what god thinks. I'd guess if the man were honest , he'd say he doesn't give a hoot about God, just money but he wants his audience to think he does.

Kind of like his wife's Holy Spirit Enema, it's outrageous, and gets them a good laugh, and attention, and though it's about as disrespectful to God a one can be, it's ok for them to do that stuff, as in the mind of the audience it's just fine because they are people of God.

A lot of people think he's basically a good man but a little messed up, I think he's basically messed up and there is little to no good in him.

Here it is, and I believe what Osteen did was just something else Hinn could use to get people all worked up and rally around. Bet those plates were full of cash that night. :)

Why doesn't he get angry at poverty like that, and do something more than take others money? Not near as profitable as barking at Osteens muck up.

I have to acknowledge that the attitude shown by Benny does not reflect the grace of God and his type of anger is not in harmony with the fruit of the Spirit. As my mate Swordsman1 might say of testimonies that I quote to him, your story might be just an unsubstantiated account, and would demand a video of it. But I'm not him and so I believe your account. I have previously defended Benny against unfair speculative criticism, but here is an account from an eye-witness. If I was in that meeting and heard that from Benny, I would be asking serious questions about the level of his personal sanctification. If he went and deliberately punched someone he was angry with and then tried to apologise to the Holy Spirit afterward, I am imagine the Holy Spirit saying, "Yeah...right!"

It is very informative and helpful to hear an account from someone who was actually there to hear those things.

You can exclaim, "The Saints be praised! Another miracle!" Because I agreed with the post that described Benny saying that he wanted to punch a guy he was angry with and then ask the Holy Spirit to forgive him afterward. You see, I will listen to someone who was actually in a meeting to hear it.

There is the incident where while Billy Sunday was preaching, a tough guy jumped up on the stage to punch him, saying, 'I'm going to give you what you deserve!" Billy dodged the punch and then gave the guy a good roundhouse punch that sent him flying off the stage, and Billy said, "You just got what you deserved!" Billy Sunday used to be a professional baseball player before he became an evangelist.

What miracle? Benny wanting to punch someone? and of course you agree, as I said, it's the perfect thing for him to rally around and grab some attention with. He speaks of others outrageous sins, and acts appalled, when he himself is much worse than Osteen, and that's an accomplishment. I want to punch Hinn out every time he pretends to heal in order to fill his offering plates....is that a miracle too, as you put it?

I noticed how you latched on to that "actually in a meeting" thing...who ever said they were actually in that meeting? it's all over youtube and that's all we need for proof. Video beats the heck out of testimony from someone who was actually there, when it comes to proof. And of course he is right about Osteen, but he's still using it. I already told you these people will grab all kinds of truth to help perpetuate their career when you started going on about how if they speak any truth, they must be good.

Not sure what some guy defending himself has to do with anything here. My point didn't center around the punch comment at all. The point was him using that to show everyone just how outraged/holy he was because that makes him look good. Yelling it to the world..."Look at me, I'm outraged about someone else's sin" and making a huge deal out of it, when he has no room at all to cast stones...far far from it. But you won't see that at all.

I think what was meant was attacking and tearing down the personal integrity and credibility of others who post on the thread in order to make a point, rather than keeping to addressing the issues. Flaming is essentially kicking the players instead of the ball.

I do not agree Oscar. If a person writes a book or is in a TV show and makes a heretical comment in that production, then because it is said by HIM it is open to public scrutiny and then anyone has the ability to quotes that work, title, page number etc. and challenge that teaching.

Thank God you saw through the screen of religious denominationalism and now see clearly what Mr. Hinn has done.

I agree that anyone who makes public claims should be open to public scrutiny and challenges to quotes from books and articles are part of fair debate and discussion. That is kicking the ball and not the player. By the player I mean the person on this thread who engages in the discussion. If I flamed you personally and insulted your integrity and doubted your standing with God because you disagree with me, then that is kicking the player and not the ball.

Concerning Benny Hinn, there are always two sides to a story. There is no doubt that he has done a lot of good for many people and scores of testimonies prove that, but he, like all of us, has faults, and because he is in a prominent ministry, his faults are there in all their glory for to see. It is a pity that Mr Hinn's faults and errors of doctrine pour cold water on the good things he has done for the Lord, and has brought corruption into what has been and could be an effective ministry.

When you look at other ministries, whether you agree with them or not, the ones where the guy has been straight up and honest and not had any wacky doctrines or scandals attached to them, we can say that they are basically honest in what they are doing and they are seeking to serve and glorify Christ.

Billy Graham and Lester Sumrall are two good examples of that. No scandals attached to them, and their ministries are recognised by all mainstream denominations around the world. I already posted about two New Zealand ministries, Bill Subritzky and Weston Carryer, who were evangelists who happened to have people healed in their services. They never got up and made great media claims about themselves, and their preaching rarely strayed from the simple gospel message.

I don't know if you have met many New Zealanders, but we are a pioneer stock people who came out here in the 19th Century and carved a living for themselves against difficult odds. My ancestors were Scandinavian and they came out in 1973, was given a block of bush, which they set up and sawmill and produced timber. They worked their acres off and had next to nothing. They were strict Lutherans as well. They measured ladies backsides by how many axe-handles wide they were! ^_^^_^^_^

They were ordinary, simple, pioneer people who are actually the backbone of our country. I am saying these things to let you know that New Zealanders are not given to emotional excesses. We are a practical, do it yourself people not inclined to believe flaky nonsense. So if an ordinary guy comes to our churches, especially in congregations made up of hard farmers, and preaches a simple gospel and gets people healed as well, then he is more likely to be accepted by these rugged farmers, than some guy in a white suit, from America who makes a big display of himself with people falling all over the place. A guy like that is likely to be laughed out of most country and provincial churches in New Zealand. Auckland, with its more cosmopolitan population might be more inclined to warm to a guy like that. Our other cities are more conservative. Dunedin is very Scottish Presbyterian in nature, and Christchurch is Anglican with the country's cathedral. Wellington, our capital city has had the reputation of being the hardest city in New Zealand for getting the gospel across to people, and most churches there don't get larger than about 300 people.

Actually whenBenny came to NZ a few years ago, there was a marked difference of opinion about him, but he only came to the capital city Wellington and possibly to Auckland. I never bothered to go to his meeting here, because I was in my skeptical mode at that time! :)

Obviously you have never heard of Billy Sunday, one of the greatest evangelists of the early 20th Century. He was not Pentecostal and was an inspiration to Billy Graham. Billy acted in self defence against a bully who leapt on the stage to beat him up. A world of difference between him and Benny who indicated that because he was angry with a guy, he would go and punch him. The former was self defence and not criminal assault, but the latter would have been criminal assault if he had followed through with it.

I have already explained the miracle I referred to. Reading my post carefully would have shown you that.

OK, I clearly didn't see the explanation but if there is some reason you'd rather not be clear about it, oh well.

As far a B Sunday, still irrelevant but if you want to talk about him, fine with me.

Us New Zealanders tend to give people the benefit of the doubt unless proved one way or the other. Concerning Benny Hinn, I have been giving him the benefit of the doubt in the face of the accusations against him. Of all the exchanges that I have had from people posting in the forum, only one person has come forward with a personal eye-witness account of what he observed in a meeting where he was actually present. That one account has pulled one step toward the negative concerning him, but a few more from people who were actually there would help me decide whether the man is kosher or not. But unproven accusations taken from a couple of seconds of video are not enough for me and I would see those as fake news and hearsay.

There is enough information on line concerning the life and ministry of Billy Sunday, so I don't need to spend any more time discussing him. It is just that you were accusing him of the same thing that Benny suggested, which was not factual.

Thank you for that post. It is that I have been doing this for a long time and I have seen the mess's made in the name of religion and faith healers and I am the one left to pick up the pieces of the lives that were destroyed by his fraudulent actions in the precious name of Jesus Christ. He/They collect their "love" offering and head onto a new set of people to be fooled while the people in the community try to explain why momma still has cancer after Mr. Hinn and Mr. Grant prayed for them and declared them to be healed.
