  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All appearances of evil is a loose translation. For a poor person, someone with a car may appear evil. For someone with a problem with the net, everyone who uses it may appear evil. For a non-Christian, Christian proclaiming God's judgment appear evil. Therefore to use it like that may not be the correct application.

 And Jim is right in that even if u do have it dont flaunt it for the Bible says to abstain from all appearances of evil or wrongdoing. That is why a minister of the Gospel has to pay attention to everything he does in order that the world will not even have a chance to accuse. When a minister councils a woman he should not be alone with her etc etc. Even if you see a minister of yours browsing in a Video store it might cause someone to get the wrong idea, so ministers have to be on guard at all times because the world is always watching just as they do Hinn to show they are worldly and corrupt. Fat Eagle.
Not to mention that flaunting your wealth as a minister receiving offerings from the under-privileged right in their face is, excuse me, stupid (i.e., unwise). You WILL receive receive criticism – it’s a guarantee – and you don’t need to whine when you do.

IMO

Not get off the topic or hijack the thread but a big AMEN to this post. I didn't get to watch "dateline" and so I don't want to comment on that. Thanks for the nice post here. :)

Benny Hinn made a reply to NBC's attack:

You can read the long and detailed message at: http://www.thetruthline.com/dateline.cfm.

It also lists the company who audtis his ministry, the doctors who confirm the healings, the correct prices for the hotel rooms and discounts they receive, and why he decided not to do an interview with NBC Dateline.

I do not mind Benny Hinn having a nice house, driving a luxurious car, and etc. I believe a man of God on his level should have all those things. (Rather him than a movie star who can't act, but all she can do is take her clothes off.)

I believe Benny Hinn is a man of God and I have given to his ministry every once in a while even though I am not a "partner".

This letter states the following from Benny Hinn:

"Dateline's misleading implication regarding this ministry's longstanding support of needy children was a tragic disrespect to the precious little ones receiveing generous love and care, made possible by this ministry. The undisputable fact is that, through sstrategic alliances with child-care and relief organizationa (as well as our own ministries), the partners of Benny Hinn Ministries provide food, clothing, shelter, medical supplies, and educational materials for 20,000 children around the world each and every month."

Now, the fact that this ministry is in existence is wonderful. It is God reaching little children, which is beautiful. However, don't free-masons and maffia related companies give to the same causes to make themselves look good?

This will never be resolved. Some believe it is the function of the pastor to lead his congregation by being an example of servanthood, moderation and itegrity and accountable to those he serves and some feel it is the function the pastor is to be served and requiring him to be no example at all nor be accountable to anyone. One can no more convince the other than the sun can rise in the west.

(BTW, You can count me in the former group.)

Neither view has even one thing to do with the Good News of Christ. Nothing.

Well.... I have seen the shows that try to expose Benny Hinn. All I can say that many of my friends and family (even my pastor) has went and seen a Benny Hinn crusade. They ALL said that it was AWESOME. They could really feel the presence of the Lord there. If he was really doing all of those bad things then I dont think he would be as anointed as he is. This April our youth group is going to go see him, and I expect it to be awesome. Im not going to see him, but to see Jesus and his wonderful healing power. So if any of you dont no what to think, then go and see him. See for yourself, dont listen to the people on television.

God Bless!

I think that the only thing we can hope to do is agree to disagree. If the guy is clean, then praise God. If he's a fake, oh well, he'll get what's coming to him in the end. It is not our place to say. Like Paul said: "But what does it matter? The important thing is tht in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this, I rejoice."

THIS IS NOT MEANT AS AN INSULT... just a thought.

The presence of the Lord, or the presence of emotion? Some people have a hard time telling the difference.

And another thought: would I want to meet with the King of kings and stay unemotional?

This is true and a very good point... but people also get emotional watching Old Yeller. We all know that Christ is wherever there are two or more gathered in His name, right? I again make this point... it doesn't necessarily have ANYTHING to do with Benny Hinn. I'd quote Philippians again, but I don't think I need to.

Blah, blah, blah, and this entire discussion has helped me to deal with even one person today like Christ would deal with them.....how?

The entire discussion on both sides is worldly, fleshly, and has zip to do with the Kingdom of God.

How did you walk in the spirit today? Just today? Did any of this discussion have anything to do with it? If it did, why did it? Did you lust after money today? Or did you lust after the blood of those who have money today?

Be honest.

Got a headache so bear with me people.

God created us with emotions not robots. No we are not to live completly by our emotions. No we are not to be controlled by our emotions. But we do have emotions and God uses them at times. It only shows that we are human. God can use everything that is me.

This thread is wearing me thin...Benny will be damned if he does and damned if he don't in alot of peoples eyes. Post the audits on this thread, I thought thats what people wanted, but I can see, it just doesn't matter, we have to have someone to crucify..so he takes care of children, and is audited by at least 5 different audit companies, there must be something we can find that we can accuse him of.. It's all starting to sound so familier....

Trish.

Good. So you basically agree with me that using the "emotion" point is non sequitur.
