B.C.E./C.E. decision overturned

FRANKFORT - The state board of education unanimously reversed a decision yesterday to change the historic designation of time after an overwhelming outcry from church groups and a change in the makeup of the board.

The 11-member board Ð which includes six new members appointed by Gov. Ernie Fletcher Ð decided to revisit a decision made in April, when the group approved curriculum changes that would add B.C.E., for Before Common Era, and C.E., for Common Era, to the traditionally used terms Ð B.C., or Before Christ, and A.D., Anno Domini, for in the year of our Lord.
