And you should know that the USA is not "all of us". There is a world full of people and contrary beliefs beyond your borders. It's where the majority of people live, and many of us look at you and scratch our heads in bemusement.

It's kind of hard not to accept evolution though because that's just naturally how the world works. All that Genesis goes against is direct evolution from monkeys. I'm pretty sure that Adam and Eve looked a lot different than we do today though.

The evidence for evolution is strong. But there are people that would rather hold to what the Bible teaches and push that.

Personally I know that lots of Christians accept evolution.

The number I like is that there are more evolution accepting Christians then there are atheists of all sorts.

The evidence is pretty good right now. Mostly, scientists are just filling in the gaps of the theory and refining it.

Vs 4 He quotes from Genesis 1, and vs 5 He quotes from Genesis 2.

Nope.

Atheist is a statement on a question.

Agnostic is how certain you are about that statement.

You can be an agnostic atheist, meaning you don't think there is a god, but you don't think you will ever know.

That said, if there is evidence for a deity, then technically I would not be an atheist since there would be unquestionable evidence that there is a powerful deity. It still doesn't mean I would be worshiping that deity without question.

Some people only celebrate the commercialism of it by the gift giving/Santa Claus etc. Of course we as Christians already know that that isn't what it's all about,.. but I was just explaining why unbelievers may celebrate it that's all.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with @Paulos23 on this one. The birth of Christ is what Christmas is or should be about, but it isn't evidence of Christ. If we actually needed evidence to be a Christian though we wouldn't need our faith and that is something that a lot of atheists and agnostics don't understand.

I know the fact most of or all of us do that's why I'm curious to hear the opposition's side of this.

It's essentially a matter of taking the Bible literally so far as the people who vehemently oppose biological evolution are concerned.

As has been said already here, most Christians do accept evolution, but of course it's not that the evolving was independent of the will of God or that Genesis is bunk therefore or that Man has not been endowed with the image and likeness of God.

So what about the Christians will not go that far? As I was saying at the beginning, their opposition mainly is over the fact that the Bible speaks of six days of creation, not billions of years, and does not make any specific statement to the effect that he set things in motion and let them develop rather than creating everything by a direct act. That's what a reading of those verses in the Bible would mean if taken strictly and only literally.

Some people who believe in evolution do believe that it has nothing to do with God and that humans are simply advanced animals, but the Christians who believe in evolution believe in what is sometimes called "theological evolution."
