I think that *this disaster* coupled with a statement on Christian Orthodoxy plus the ability to deal with posters that behave like total idiots (more than just requests for edits) will go a long way to dealing with current "problems."

I agree with a lot of this.

I think that a procedure for using the wikis in an orderly fashion needs to be established also.

I think safe congregatioanl areas should be offered to non-mainstream/unorthodox Christians (and I have no problem with the Creed being used as a standard of orthodoxy; my problem was with it being used as a standard of Christianity) while having them clearly labeled as non-mainstream or non-Nicene, and while allowing debate on the topics elsewhere.

In a large sense CF *IS* an example and witness of Christianity on the web and as such should demonstrate the true breadth of what Christianity is in both Nicene and non-Nicene forums and allow fellowship between both groups. And the Great Commission, the outreach should not be neglected. It is one of the major emphases of Christianity. It is the last instruction Jesus left with his apostles.

I think allowing non-Christians to post anywhere and non-Christian staff (as elected) has generally been positive.

I think opening up report threads has been positive and prevented appeals. A lot of time just having one's say on the issue is sufficient, for a lot of people.

I support the vision you posted on 7/7 but I believe it needs another level of--order to be effective.

I haven't voted yet. Option 2 would need to be altered for me to choose it, option 1 is out of the question.

I don't like it that Option 2 is stated Christians ONLY. This should be a CHRISTIAN site, but not ONLY for Christians. I came to CF because it was a Christian site...but also because there were non-Christians who would benefit from hearing the Gospel.

Change Option 2 around a little and I'd vote that.

I agree. I would never neglect Christ's commandment of true Christianity as I will use your quote:
It is one of the major emphases of Christianity. It is the last instruction Jesus left with his apostles.

A safe social community site with a heavy and strong Christian influence (with the vision being to offer a safe online community, and a secondary vision being to allow Christians to outreach to non-Christians) along with a heavy emphasis on uniting mainstream Christians that moderators should be ONLY Christians. Non-Christians can vote and be moderators in non-Christian sections.

Wow, aren't you a nice person? I'm not going to make any comment on the quality of the people who have left/returned, because I think it's rather tactless to post that Poster X is somehow a better person than Poster Y (especially when I have had less experience with Poster Y).

I also love how you keep emphasising and bragging that you have put time into this forum. Just because you were once a moderator doesn't mean your opinion has any more worth than that of "inferior" types such as myself who have felt marginalised and been made to feel unwelcome in the past.

Why don't we just give the new system time to prove itself? It seems to be working. Everywhere I post/lurk, I haven't seen any significant problems.
ah maybe you don't know the losses like I do? whom placed hundreds of hours a month keeping CF running

Pride in my former position as Moderator? hardly closer to disgust, besides the point

I would strongly favor a return to CF as a Christians-only site. This does not preclude outreach to non-Christians. The original model was excellent, because it allowed for non-Christian areas, but had forums restricted to believing Christians, and did not allow non-Christian moderators. As has already been said, we must reach out to the world without becoming conformed to the world. Would a church appoint an unbelieving elder or pastor? If not, then why would we have non-Christian moderators? For the same reason, I would strongly favor a return to the old CF.
Amen.

Perhaps a separate thread should be started where the benefits of the current system and benefits of the previous system can be worked out.
Sorry, dude, this is from eleventy million pages back, but is it a possibility? Cos right now we're just fumbling around in the dark. If we had some sort of solid basis to work off this whole discussion would prob'ly be a whole heap more productive.

I disagree :)

I think the old CF was very good at outreach.
In the old CF we had more deconversions in the Debate area than ever. We also had non-Christians outnumber Christians 2-1 in GA.

In the new CF we had (at least what I know of) 2 conversions to Christianity and more and more Christians are joining the debates in GA.

Imo, the new CF (option 1) is better.

G-d bless,
sc

Close, but I'd still call it a Christian site.
