CF has non-christian moderators this very moment. Can you honestly say they've made things worse? Everything i've heard is that they've been doing a fantastic job.

This is exactly why I believe the entire forum should be restricted to just christians. Until that decision is made, every non-christian here will be expected to tolerate being told we are incapable of being as fair, honest or worthy as the christians.

And if that's christianity, then please keep it for yourselves :) The only hope I have found left for christianity i've found in one person, and they're not welcome here by most either.

The only person that one should look to for hope in Christianity is Jesus Christ! :)

We've done fairly well in this thread without the name calling. I think we should stick to that!

Forgive me, you must have misunderstood my meaning. I am actually more partial to option 2 than 1; I would be one of the "bigots" which I believe option 2 implies exist, though. I did not mean to say that those in favor of retaining the name and keeping some order are in actuality bigots. I see now that my wording was bad.

Thanks for clearing that up! I hope you don't misunderstand this:

I'm not going back to the ghetto, get it? If you don't want people like me here, then just say so. But no more of this "we want you here, but don't get on the carpet" stuff that we had before. People were hurt by that, constantly. You can't invite people in just to have a punching bag when you need one, and that's what the old CF did.

Seconded.

Dear ZACTAK,

God forgives and I forgive.

Don't worry, Brother. We all make mistakes.

Dear Erwin
:

I hope we can still reach out to Non-Christians through the Outreach.

There are problems with the new system, especially reports of porn, and they are good things - the transparency of reports.

There should be some way of hiding reports of porn or abusive flames.
Is there anyway that reports of porn can be hard-deleted so as not to tempt the mods who have problems with this?

There are also problems with the old system
with the lack of transparency and admins who hold grudges and believe some outlandish things they learned through PMs that are totally unsubstantiated, i.e., the level of gossip here that has been allowed to go on. Gossip should never be tolerated at a Christian site.
The mod forums should be carefully monitored to clean out any inferences, gossip, and rash judgments.

I voted Option 2, but note these problems with both Option 1 and 2.

Regarding Mod applications.
With the level of flaming in the mod apps. I think that whole process needs some rethinking.

In Christ,
Elizabeth

Here's the vision that I think would best serve CF: Focus on the ministry of members rather than on the ministry of staff. There are some amazing people that would like nothing better than to evangelize and witness here at CF but are not interested in the role of staff members. That's perfectly understandable. I've been involved in moderation for two years and I have to say that most people find it tedious and boring at best and painful and agonizing at worst. It isn't a job that lends itself to ministry (in any sense of the word).

The role of the moderator is to moderate; to enforce the rules. With a simple rule set that is basically static, that's easy and it can be accomplished quickly and easily.

I think Spherical Time makes a really good point here. It merits a little emphasis.

Then consider what I meant to mean that I have only met one person who best exemplifies what I expect Yeshua would have intended of his disciples :)

I know. It's sometimes not pretty out there. Many are called, few are chosen. If we look to man to figure out whether we should follow Christ I'm not sure we are going to see what we need to see, because all fall short of the glory of God.

But then again, maybe you haven't meet the right Christians! ;)

I will pray that the Lord places someone in your life that can be an example for you!

Well it was kinda, you did stuff non-Christians into tiny ghettos and treated them as 2nd class citizens...

kind of like the beginning of the holocaust...

Now that's real positive, comparing CF to Hitler!

Way to go!

Christian-only or All-are-welcome. Conservative or Liberal. Church or Outreach. Elected Mods or Appointed.

It doesn't matter.

The problems will remain. The troubles aren't going anywhere. The only difference will be who's getting their throats cut.

I'd support whichever method gives me the best chance of defending myself against whichever vocal minority has currently made it their business to tell me what my business here is.

That method is personal freedom coupled with personal accountability -- which includes the freedom to determine who can hold me accountable.

Oh please. Do you consider how offensive this might be to people who were actually part of it? Maybe not and how sad. We can do without propaganda like this.
