I had to vote for Option 2. Although neither of the options appears to reflect the way CF was before the "change" was made.

Option 1 seeks to create a "safe social" site, albeit with a Christian influence. Safe from what? Perverts and predators? Sorry, but no site can guarantee that. Safe from attack upon one's beliefs? Not happening under the current format.

Option 2 seeks to create a Christians Only site where interaction with non-Christians, if desired, is extremely limited.

I wish the forum could go back to the way it was before Erwin made those changes. It seemed to me that a Christians Only section and an Open To Anyone section accommodated all sides concerned very well. Those who wished to further Christian unity could have discussions in the Christians Only section and those who wished for more of an outreach ministry had the option of posting their messages and replies in the Open section.

Under the current format, what I and many other Christians feared (http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=36551189#post36551189) has indeed come to pass. Christian viewpoints everywhere on this forum are subject to attack from non-Christians.

Under the old format, if a Christian wanted to venture into the non-Christian section, knowing that he was likely to come under attack for his viewpoints, he was free to do so. But now, non-Christians are free to mount their attacks on Christian viewpoints in any thread. This is hardly a "safe" environment for Christians in a "supposed" Christian Forum.

There was nothing at all wrong with the forum the way it was before the changes. There should have been an Option 3 in the poll.

Option 3- Return the site to the way it was before Erwin's changes, with a Christians Only section and an Open to All section.

I wonder how many people would vote for that?

outreach? another joke.

100 christians forums 1 anthiest forum is more efficient to outreach than 100 athiest forums 1 christian forum!!!
I somehow doubt that there are more atheist forums online, much less THAT many more.

CHRISTIAN FORUMS -
Uniting All Christians As One Body

So the purpose is for Christians, it doesn't say its for outreach.
We are suppose to gather together for many reasons. Fellowship, encouragement, prayer, strength, teaching, to minister to each other, etc. In the Bible when it talks about the church, its the believers, not non Christians. We get with the church, which is people ( not a building) , to get filled up and then go out in the world to reach the lost. (Outreach)

Of course if non Christians come in we try to reach them and there were places for that.
There are 1000's of non Christian forums, or secular forums with a small 'religious" sections. Even several "Christian" forums I've been to , but they are just not the same as this.

I pray this will always be Christian, founded on Christians principles. It would be a great lose and heartbreak if its not. There are so many people here that need godly fellowship and influence.

Not if you want this to be an exclusively Christian forum, you're not. That's a fundamentally un-Christian principle.

This idea that Christians can't have fellowship or counsel each other with non-Christians around is farcical. I ask you all again - is your faith really so fragile that the mere presence of non-Christians threatens it?

1. A safe social community site with a heavy and strong Christian influence (with the vision being to offer a safe online community, and a secondary vision being to allow Christians to outreach to non-Christians) - which will allow for a name change;

Seeing that Jesus of Nazareth did command his disciples to go forth and preach to the world (Matthew 28:19-20) I picked Option 1. Option 2 is simply not consistent with the teachings of this religion's founder, and uniting all Christians as one body is impossible if you exclude Christians such as Mormons, JWs, etc. from the outset

Amen! Exclusion was not what Jesus taught.

And once the Evil Atheist Conspiracy is under control, everything will be just hunky-dory!

-- The Anglicans will stop tearing each other apart.

-- The Reformed and the Catholics will embrace each other as long lost siblings.

-- The Lutherans will disband their congregational subforums.

-- General Theology will return to its hey day of calm and reasoned discourse.

-- I will get a pony.

070707 is 911 of cf.

Please tell me you aren't serious. As much as you may disagree with the changes, comparing them to 9/11 is just despicable. This is just a message board. Lighten up.

I know, that really is the bottom line in all of this; the non-Christians aren't obstructing the Christians here from any unity that they don't already have.
