I know about it because they are not shy speaking of what they are taught and believe. I concede that attending a single service with them would not show any indication of that belief. But when one inquires out of , thinking of joining or simple curiosity they are straightforward about it. It is not their little hidden secret.I mean the add it to their name . Now do i for a moment believe every single member agrees with said dogma? No. But when one is "in communion with" it denotes accepting it without speaking against it. So one may as well hold the dogma as that is what they are supporting. Yes I purposely said dogma and not doctrine. The trinity is a dogmatic point.
Now if you look through this thread, you will note I'm not willing to call them damned. But I do curse the teaching.

But I agree with you that we must judge the doctrin and not the entire community.
We don't know what the entire community believe.

Just because one is in the community doesn't mean they're not preaching against it. We dont know that. Some people just have certain view points and differencess on certain doctrins and yet they love their church. Is it wrong that they are still there? yes. But there maybe reasons why they haven't left yet. We don't know enough information. God could be dealing with them to leave. They may don't know how to leave and just need wisdom on leaving in love. We just don't know enough information to condenm them.

In this shows the difference between the evangelical movement and the traditional. In the traditional Church we believe holding a dogma contrary to our communions dogma is ex-communication (either by self or imposed). The evangelicals hold communion in a different regard and usually have no set dogmas (save a couple) that could ever cause one to be out of said communion.
I would venture to say that very few evangelicals even know the position of their church on most matters as it's rarely written or brought up but replace by the Bible. Now there is nothing wrong with that except there are far too many different takes on the bible even within the same congregation.
Let me give an example from my life experience.
I was a baptist pastor and noticed we were not all on the same page. I saw that in our various aged Sunday School classes that some would be on one book of the Bible while another class was on a different. So i made a simple suggestion that was well received. Let us all teach on the same text on the same day. I always floated between the classes Just to listen to them. i notice the very first week that the teen's teacher was doing a fine job so i moved on. The adult's teacher was teaching a completely different doctrine.
Now when thse teen agers went home and discussed what they'd learned with their parents, how does that work out? So I went to what we called the Bi-laws. It didn't even come close to addressing it. The church had no defined doctrine.
This is more common than some might be aware of. Don't take this wrong as I have no issues with multiple doctrines being examined. But a teaching needs to be steadfast.
