I remember country churches where the candles slumped if left standing upright from one sunday to the next. They were supposed to take them home and keep them in the fridge.

Oh, yes. We have to take them out of the candle holders and lie them flat, or they bend in the heat.

We had that happen to our pascal candle once. It was an interesting problem to try to address.

I have sweated and shivered through many services - our church building is quite big, and even the new church building is quite old. We have ceiling fans. Way, way up high so you can't feel a difference. They just installed two split system units, which heat and cool the two pews closest - very popular spots to sit in the heat and cold! And a few small radiant heaters along the edges. Upgrading the building is slow, there are other more important projects, but it will happen eventually.

You are correct. I have been lagging behind on a number of little projects lately.

hi am Alex , i am a new christian , am thinking about going to an Anglican church near to me , i though id post here and say hi , i think am needing baptised because i was lead a stray due to mental health issues and a friend talked about Jesus to me and i felt so much love from her and from Jesus JESUS IS LOVE and am Saved

That’s the church I go to when I’m in Edinburgh. I love it and it is a real blessing to the city centre.

Just go to it. I’ve only been to the 11am and it is so welcoming and friendly. My daughter goes to the evening service as well as midweek groups.

It'd have been funny if it had been, say, St. Paul's and St. Quinten's. Then you could have had Ps and Qs.

(Okay, my sense of humour is terrible. But take pity on me, it's like, 99 degrees Fahrenheit here today and I'm trying to concentrate on work!)
