Firstly, He formed him from the earth from the field and secondly, He breathed His own breath into Adam's nostrils. This sets man apart from all other creatures that G-d created. He breathed His own breath of life into man.

G-d is the source of life and He placed life directly into man.

The life-giving breath is mentioned in the Gospel of John when the Lord Jesus imparts new life to the disciples

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22

Did you know that a person breathes in and out between 10,000 and 20,000 liters of air every day?

And a fifth of that is oxygen.

In an emergency, a person can go without food for weeks and without liquids (water) for at least three days. But without air, a person can only survive for a few minutes.
