Morning Greetings all!

I did really well yesterday. Completed my wonderful workout, had my salad w/water for dinner and slept a little better.

This morning I most likely had more than I should - but Women's Day mag was my light reading for the morning and I came across an interesting blurb that stated studies on Calcium and weight loss.

Anyone know of this? It seems calcium helps the body break down fat better. The info happened on accident. A study was in place for calcium and cholesterol, I believe, and the participants lost weight over the year for an unknown reason (11 pounds on average). They traced the weight loss to the calcium!

Something to look into. Trouble is, when taking calcium, it gets in the way of Zinc and other materials that are helpful to the body.

I didn’t know spinach has tons of calcium in it!

Today, I’m going grocery shopping and I’m going to look into more of this.

I also had thoughts of looking for a multivitamin that is good for the metabolism.

Hey Wild,

Cant you work better components into your current soil to make it work for gardening? I’m here in Seattle and my garden is just bursting, but not yielding anything yet. My hubby tells me I have no patience - I know he is right!

Well, folks, enjoy the weekend, and please let me know what I can pray for, for you and this issue.

Sending Kind Regards,

Sherry

Hi there RaptureTicketHolder
I take coral calcium (when I remember/friend owns vitamin store and swears it helps) I admit I do not get in enough calcium and I need to work on that.

When I was put on prednisone for some allergies I gained some weight so I thought "Oh I will try Dr. Atkins"
oh boy...half way through the day I felt as if I was going to die. I need my carbs! No way could I stick to that plan...

YAH! weight loss is great! I could so stand to lose some weight. i won't give my whole testimony, but I have a disease that seriously hinders my metabolic system from working right, and so a year or so ago I decided to just screw working out, God wanted to me to big blah blah blah. And like 2 days ago I was like ya know what? God wants me to take care of my body, and I climbed a mountain! Dude I can't even run a mile without it being an obstacle, but when you say I can do ANYTHING through Him who strengthens me, you CAN do ANYTHING! So amen to weight loss I'm RIGHT with you guys!!!!

By the way I bought a trampoline! FUN! and tiring all at the same time. I originally would jump with my 7 year old but when I discovered that I am huffing and puffing I am jumping for exercise...

Who knows lieverd, maybe you'll start a trend. ;)

Sherry,

Our "dirt" is just Georgia red clay--all the topsoil was scraped away during construction. Our backyard is also lower than the surrounding area, and when it rains, water stands there and the clay holds it forever.

So it's not good soil, and I don't want to invest the effort in improving the yard area when we will only live here for 3-4 more years. We rent one half of duplex right now. I'm working on flower beds right now--I have worked 40 lbs of claybuster soil into one small bed and you can't really tell. It gets expensive, and I don't have the means right now to start a compost pile.

I ran again today! Week two has just started for me, and it is great so far.

For those of you who are exercising, it might be a good reference point to take your measurements, because while you might not see a difference on the scalle you could see it in inches as muscle increases and fat decreases.

I realized that I wasn't getting enough calcium or other vitamins that are found in green leafy veggies. So I'm going to start looking at incorporating a serving of dark green veggies into my diet. I like spinach ok, but collards and turnip greens are much better IMO. Kale is good for you also.

Hope this week is great for all of you, and that you are able to meet your goals.

...I really feel that scales can be self defeating...

however I will hop on a scale once a week. My friend Heather (5'4) is trying to lose 67 pounds and I (5'9) want to lose 20-30 so we joined weight watchers together :)
I will let everyone know how i am doing
I have never been on a diet in my life, so this is a first for me...

I would like to join. I started an exercise program, it's not extremely vigourous yet, but I am increasing it slowly. I eat 3 small meals a day and do not eat snacks, sometimes I crave for chocolate, but not every day, maybe once a week. But exercising does not make you loose weight, for that you need exercising AND dieting. I am sick of diets. I am just hoping to be best I can be at this point. I would love to lose 20 lbs but don't know how without dieting.

Joni, you sound really in control. I can't remember the last time i stuck to three small meals a day and NO snacks. I have little self discipline when it comes to food! I have been on all ends of the spectrum though, weight wise. I would love to see less of in the mirror every day and i would also like to lose about 20 lbs initially. That would really spur me on to lose the rest.

Jenndiggy, i prefer to refer to terms of weight in lbs also...and yes, you are correct, we don't need to divulge anything personal about our weight other than how much we have lost.

How are you doing with the whole healthier eating thing ?... I don't think i'm going to be a success story this week..LOL.
