What did you think of the video?
I can't believe AiG got something right.
The funny part of this is that it is just laying there 515ft long, metal detectors practically outlined the whole thing and we are saying - what shape? Can't be Noah's Ark ... some other man-made structure ... 515 ft long.
It is comical.![]()

But why would anyone want to build a 515 ft wooden boat outside of Noah's purpose?[serious];64945196 said:Let's run with that. Let's assume that their magic dowsing rods actually revealed timbers and metal as the video suggests. Let's assume that the lines they laid out in tape actually reflect the locations of support beams. Let's even assume that all of this stuff dated to 4000 years ago and somehow managed to survive the weather in some meaningful form. Let's assume that parallel lines on a rock really mean thatching was there are some point. Do we know any other wooden structures that people build that thy put thatching on? Maybe some kind of structure that we are all familiar with and something in which we are sitting as we type back and forth? Even if we accept every bogus claim they make in the video, they have done NOTHING to support their hypothesis that it's a seagoing mobile structure rather than a building.

Besides, the couplings (or whatever is holding joints together) were made of man-made metal.
Also, metals were found with metal detectors, not dowsing rods. They could not excavate the core of it because the Turkish government did not allow them to excavate.
So they marked each spot where the metal was found for every joint, ran lines - a boat under the ground.
Also, it is not a building because the above the ground outline is in the shape of the boat.
I mean it is huge.
That was why originally in 1959 people were thinking based on a location and it's shape and size that it was Noah's Ark.
Wyatt did not invent it.
He just went to Turkey to investigate.![]()
Well, some people found it fascinating, some convincing and no one could disprove what was there.[serious];64945210 said:I think you owe me an hour of my life back.
EDIT: also, if a video is that long, it's completely reasonable to expect the OP to summarize it for the rest of the posters and for those posters to instead respond to the OPs summary. If the OP fails to summarize, it's reasonable for other posters to seak out alternate summaries to respond to.

But it is not a completely natural geologic feature. It is a completely natural geologic feature.

Abstract
A natural rock structure near Dogubayazit, Turkey, has been misidentified as Noah's Ark. Microscopic studies of a supposed iron bracket show that it is derived from weathered volcanic minerals. Supposed metal-braced walls are natural concentrations of limonite and magnetite in steeply inclined sedimentary layers in the limbs of a doubly plunging syncline. Supposed fossilized gopherwood bark is crinkled metamorphosed peridotite. Fossiliferous limestone, interpreted as cross cutting the syncline, preclude the structure from being Noah's Ark because these supposed "Flood" deposits are younger than the "Ark." Anchor stones at Kazan (Arzap) are derived from local andesite and not from Mesopotamia.
define "shape of a boat" is that just roughly kind of oval? But why would anyone want to build a 515 ft wooden boat outside of Noah's purpose?

In a sense, yes.If intervention was need to hold the ark together, why bother with the ark at all? Was it just a make-work project for Noah?
In a sense, yes.
At times, God would ask a person of faith to do something that would seem strange or out of character as a display of their faith.
Building an Ark, marching around Jericho; these things served a dual purpose: that of warning observers of impending doom, and that of establishing a person as a "man of faith."
Hebrews 11 is full of such examples.
I don't know.[serious];64945725 said:define "shape of a boat" is that just roughly kind of oval?
Interesting point in there, Sayre, about the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
You know you are a fundie when even AiG thinks you've taken things too far.
Ain't that the truth! He did, but I believe that one major benefit of these tests were: it gave that person a reputation; a legacy, so to say, and established that person (or persons) as a "man of faith."As if he didn't know what the results of the tests would be...
