ANNOUNCEMENT: New Report System Information

The solution would be to make report threads visible to all but restrict posting to Staff respective of their assigned forums. There is already a problem with inequitable and inconsistent rule application. Not to mention some are on Staff purely from luck. Wouldnt be a problem if there wasnt a history of abuse.

I don't think so. More likely, Staff would simply be flooded with PMs from everyone who read something that they'd like to comment on. There would be major repetition when different people each remarked on the same Report.

Might as well just let people comment in the Reports.

Ok Jo I will admit as far as I know you answer your PM's. But are you really ready to vouch that all of the admins do? I wouldn't. as a matter of fact I know some don't.

Report threads are not visible but based on the past couple of weeks it's clear, at least where i post, rule application is based more on people and ideologies versus the actual rules. Making the threads visible would aid greatly in reducing abuse.

The problem is that this is all just another layer that isolates the Staff from the non-Staff. I used the Report feature because that makes the post available to any and all instead of languishing in somebody's PM box.

ETA: Additionally, I would like to know why unreported posts are being deleted, apparently on a whim, without so much as the courtesy of an RFE?

Lindon I am sorry about your frustrations there isn't much I can do much about them. All would ask is that you just keep things civil.

As far as reports. Were they located in this thread or where?

Well it was concerning a reported post so yes it is for his eyes only.

I guess to address the question at large there should be no deletion of post with out proper procedures being followed. If there is a member of the RT should be contacted.

Just to reiterate publically--I don't do the secrecy thing.

I am interested in the how and the why of the deleted post, especially why procedure wasn't followed. That's a public issue.
