I will find the list and send it to you in a PM so as not to further derail the thread. :)
PS -- I will work on an announcement that lists the members of the Reconciliation Team so that others will be able to contact them directly. Please note that all members may file a complaint using the Suggestions/Complaint Forum. These are private in that only the reporter and Admins/SuperAdmins (incl. the Reconciliation Team) can read your threads.
Actually could you kindly provide a link to those who are on this team?

What is the advantage of making these threads private?
My guess would be it prevents us from demanding consistency and fairness, using mods posts as a basis for our requests. But that would only be a guess as there has been no reason given.

That the oversight is no real oversight. Self-policing never works without independent oversight. This is pretty much a sociological fact. Roughly this independent oversight is called checks and balances. This evidently will not exist. I suspect when a member asks to see evidence presented against them the request will be denied for "confidentiality" reasons.

This is the question as it was originally asked. Please tell me how it was disrespectful?

I would also respectfully offer that staff has never been given permission to ignore questions in the past. Has there been a policy statement that you may "not take seriously" any question that you do not feel is respectfully asked?

Thank you in advance for your answers.
May I suggest that this discussion be brought to the Wiki/Rules Discussion Forum? This thread is intended to clarify and explain the Report System, and NOT for other purposes, and it is now veering off into discussion on other issues.

That is a crock, Jo. You may not have an infraction system, but there is not one thing stopping you from sending me a PM.

Lisa

And another thing...If you do not have the system up yet, why are you using it?

Lisa
Oh but we do have the system up, what we do not have is all the staff yet trained to use it. But as I am one of the trainers, guess what - I get to use it!

And why would you think I would be pming you about something I knew nothing about!

Anyway - you've had a pm from me now, haven't you, dear?

PS - Flaglady is one of the trainers on the system and HAS been trained and can therefore issue warnings, etc...

and infractions ....

Liz it's possible they haven't had time to update that but you would think there might be at least a temp list somewhere. Perhaps there is but I haven't been able to find it.

btw you have and earned JD correct? Can you PM me please I have a question for you completely unrelated to this thread.

That would be a reasonable request however will there be someone over there who can point out to us who is on the REC team?
When I make the announcement I will be opening up a discussion thread complementary to the announcement itself. This thread has one already. :)

Regarding the list of Reconciliation Team members, a list was made and placed in the Open Conference Room. That's closed now, so I've copied the thread over to this forum:

Thank you, Letalis. I knew I had seen it somewhere but couldn't find it again. This helps a lot. :)

I have some questions:

In what ways is having closed reports better than having open reports was?

What, exactly, were the problems with having open reports? And how have they been solved by closing the reports?

Before, with open reports, if a thread was reported and Mods saw no violation, but a member did, they had the ability to show that violation to the Mods through a post. Now, since that is no longer possible, will members be able to re-report a post?

Is there any chance that the feeling and opinions of the members are going to be taken into account for this or any other change?

I understand the thought behind this change, but I am wondering if the mods have time for all the back-and-forth that will go on about every single report. The way I read the announcement is, if I am reported, I shoot a PM to the team in charge asking what's up. They PM me back telling me what the problem is. I PM them a reply arguing my position. They reply and try to make me see reason. All the while my bad post is sitting there waiting to be edited or removed. And the mods have to remember the PM replies for the reports ongoing from yesterday and the day before etc. It seems like a LOT of work for our mods, with alot of expectation on their time.

Amen! I have reports waiting 6 days yet for some response! This is really a backward step.

Pretty soon the moderators are going to begin feeling harrassed by members looking for action. Before, it was a better system, as one could easily see that there was action beginning and discussion on the report, as well as input from interested members.

This is insufferable, especially on a large board as this with so many adverse posters making their way in here, posting anything they feel like.

I had one girl post a praise to Satan days ago, and it's still sitting there. The moderators have more than they can handle now. Good luck.

The solution would be to make report threads visible to all but restrict posting to Staff respective of their assigned forums. There is already a problem with inequitable and inconsistent rule application. Not to mention some are on Staff purely from luck. Wouldnt be a problem if there wasnt a history of abuse.

Report threads are not visible but based on the past couple of weeks it's clear, at least where i post, rule application is based more on people and ideologies versus the actual rules. Making the threads visible would aid greatly in reducing abuse.
