Why was yesterday, in particular, the day of James?

That’s when he was martyred.

“How do you know that’s when he was martyred?”

The same reason why we know which books make up the New Testament.

How do you know which books make up the New Testament?

I’m sorry, but I don’t keep ‘saint days’.
I would rather focus on the days that Jesus was sacrificed and resurrected.

no one said St Paul expects to be called those things, although he did refer to himself as a father and Christians as saints.

no one worships anyone other than God here, so that's irrelevant. and neither Paul nor Mary had PhDs either.

and we do listen to Christ.
Ok. So Gamaliel did then, but I bet Paul was top of the class :)

That’s two days a year. The Lord also did something on Saturday in between dying and resurrecting. Do you know what He did on Saturday? (Hint: It’s in the NT)

How do you know which books go into the New Testament?

I’m not going to fall for that old athanasius heresy.
The books in n/t? I presume you’re talking about the council who chose the final canon? And the apocrypha?
Going to sleep now. Goodnight & speak tomorrow :)

Calling St. Athanasius a heretic is a deep problem & calling into question what sort of Gospel you believe in. Christians have generally found his major work: On the Incarnation, a solid expression of faith. St. Irenaeus ( late 2nd c.) cited from the books of the later canon of the NT, OT, & the Deuterocanon ( “Apocrypha”). St. Polycarp in his early 2nd c. epistle( generally approved by most Christians) also cited various scripture from the same sources when writing to the ongoing community of Philippi that St. Paul had before him.

These are examples of the surviving records of the Apostolic faith.

I’m intrigued.

Pray tell what an Athanisian heresy is?

Which council chose the “final canon?” I was under the impression that the canon developed over time, but if you can pinpoint for me the exact council that chose the final canon, as I’m very curious.
