I really admired athanasius at first. Taught me a valuable lesson, about worshipping men rather than The Lord Jesus :(

Yeah, you’re not supposed to worship saints. Worship is for God alone.

Just because you wrongly worshipped a saint doesn’t make that saint a heretic, you know? All you had to do was repent and not worship saints anymore. The Lord is merciful.

The Athanasian creed was not really confessed by St. Athanasius; it is attributed to his name for clout ( I guess). Aside from the point where it says the Holy Spirit is of the Father & the Son, it seems ok. It did not circulate in the Orthodox Church * (clarification below)

I would think our major problem with it is saying the Holy Spirit is of the Father & the Son & manipulation of St. Athanasius for this alleged justification. Rome further complicated things with the filioque addition to the Nicene Creed.

*** I said this creed did not circulate in the Orthodox Church which is incorrect. It stood as a confession in the Western Orthodox Church prior to 1054 but was hardly known in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
