The subtitle of his book, The Unseen World, seems like the same premise that Fr Stephen Freemen’s book is about: recovering a 1-story worldview and quit relegating the supernatural to the “upstairs” and realize the ancient faith viewed all of it on this world.

The ancients didn’t view the world like we rational materialists do. Getting into the phronema of the Church is especially difficult in the first-world we live in today.

He also shows why sola scriptura and the 'do it yourself' bible interpretation method of the protestant generally fails because not everyone can be so hyper-specialized into bible study - these things have to be preserved and made accessible through tradition, because otherwise it all becomes absolutely inaccessible.

Yep. Not that academia is a substitute for being in the Church by any means, but there’s a world of difference in between random Joe Shmo “just me and my bible”, and someone who knows Greek, Latin, and Hebrew; has studied the ancients and antiquity; researched the early church fathers and church history; and so on.

I mean, Phillip Schaff was a Protestant but I certainly do appreciate his footnotes and commentary in his dozens of church father translations

Well, yeah. I'm listening to his audiobook and within the first 30 minutes he's telling the listener (Protestant Evangelicals) that they need to dispense with their own exegesis in order to develop the mind of the Church. Of course, in his wake he handwaves St. Augustine and the "Church Fathers and the Catholic Church" as part of the exegetical problem by claiming that even the early Church was wrong in their understanding, and that we must understand the OT (TaNaKh)through the context of the writers opening the door to a whole other level of Judaizing.

It is interesting that Protestants are slowly starting to realize the shortcomings of their teachings and how even though they hold the Bible up to the highest regard, it still handwaves away "the difficult passages." Protestant metaphysics seem to be limited to what is outright stated in the Nicene Creed. No more, no less. Orthodoxy doesn't seem to have this problem because metaphysics was never discarded (in favor of Nominalism) in the first place.

I know Jay (Daniel) Dyer is a "controversial" figure within Orthodoxy, but this (hour long) lecture helped me realize what was missing in low-churchism, Metaphysics:

I bought a used book with Mother Alexandra's autograph. I don't know why, I've never been into the idea of autographs but Mother Alexandra somehow has been on my mind a lot since this post. Isn't she considered an unofficial saint or something? I can't remember where I seen that and I can't find it now but it seems like I've seen that somewhere before.

Welcome
In the context of the Christian Community forums, it means Eastern Orthodox Christians. When new threads appear on the home page and recent posts, it doesn't inform the person clicking the link where the thread was created and people often charge into a thread without realising the manner in which they are posting is in violation of the specific rules for the Christian Community forums.
Hence Catholics posting a new thread in OBOB will preface with "Catholics only" and Eastern Orthodox posting a new thread in TAW will preface with "Orthodox only" to give a couple of examples, to try and prevent people from unintentionally breaking the rules and being disciplined by the Mods.

no one is talking about worshiping angels. we only worship God.
