"I honestly thought this story was a satirical article out of the 'The Onion'; turns out its real!

An Egyptian farmer gets sentenced to one year in jail after naming his donkey 'Sisi' - even the animal is taken into custody!

Farmer to serve prison time for naming donkey after Sisi | Egypt Independent

One wonders what the crime of the poor animal was!

Actually I believe the farmer should not have been jailed, but rather fined instead. He committed a great crime and showed his cruel nature when he named an innocent animal 'Sisi'. Clearly this would constitute animal torture, and he did deserve to be punished for it. At least the Egyptian government got one thing right

Ya Ahl Masr, I pray the sensible ones among you can help those who have lost their senses to regain it! As for us, we can just make dua."

So to recap, this illegitimate government brought in by the military has brought back the secret police, banned the Muslim Brotherhood (and declared them a terrorist group), killed more than 1,000 protesters because of the coup, sentenced more than 500 anti-coup protesters to death, killed family members of the Muslim Brotherhood, shut down anti-coup channels down minutes after taking over (whereas anti-Morsi channels were not generally taken down while Morsi was in), arrested members of the media, bit the hand that fed them by making one of the more prominent people in the media who had supported them flee the country because of a tiny joke made against Sisi, banned the r4bia symbol, and now has imprisoned someone for naming their donkey after Sisi (and have taken the donkey as well). rofl.

Such "urban and well-cultured" people! [/sarcasm] These are the same people whose supporters had nearly 100 rape or sexual assault cases within 4 days while the anti-coup protesters had none.

Al-Nour Party - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I though people like you who have similar idealogy to the al-nour party would oppose morsi.

I would rather explore the Quran by reading it, without "Taqiyya" either by Muslims or by sites ran by people who you like to refer to for misinformation.

You can read the Quran on The Noble Qur'an - القرآن الكريم

After you read it, you will hopefully see that it does not advocate terrorism against innocent civilians; and that it encourages Muslims to be kind to those who are not harming them.

You will also hopefully see its denial of the divinity of Jesus and His crucifixion, as well as very basic historical and scientific mistakes, that all show that it is not the word of God.

The former Lunar Module pilot James Irwin who would found the High Flight foundation in 1973, after his summer 1971 trip to Hadley rile, the first Astronaut to drive a vehicle on the moon and sadly the first to go a little nutty with religion even going as far as looking for Noah's Ark.

An Astronaut with such a position being a devout christian and then some kind of evangelical, what!

I emailed the site, only to receive a reply from his Daughter, apparently. So much blind faith.
What is wrong with an Astronaut being a Christian? Are you uncomfortable with the fact that a person can be an astronaut and a believer in God?

I do agree that looking for Noah's Ark is a bit "nutty", as well as a waste of time. It most likely rotted away only God knows how much long ago.

You didn't answer my question, though.

How are the views of the world presented in my faith false? What alternative do you offer?

10 Things You Didn’t Know About President Mursi | MuslimMatters.org

6. The homeless widow

[youtube]LaJ-La1kGa8[/youtube]

The video above is of a homeless woman who used to sleep on the streets of Cairo. One day a car pulled up and Mursi himself got out of the back. He asked her why she slept on the streets. She told him that since she had become a widow, she was unable to continue paying for their apartment and eventually found herself on the street. Mursi said that no mother in Egypt should suffer like this and directed officials to provide her with a respectable apartment and enough of a stipend from the state to pay for it. Since the coup she has become homeless again.

Everything in the link is heartwarming but I put this up here because it reminded me of how during presidential race in America, the leaders come up with ways to relate to the public (such as talking about how they met an American dad/mom/sister/brother/daughter/son just like us and how they will somehow fix their and our plight or deliver on their promises).

Here is Morsi who did this random act of kindness without the public knowing about it until she, herself, came forward in support of him after he was arrested. I would assume that there are many more that we don't know about. He's been replaced by an illegitimate government that killed more than 1,000 people.

That is an awesome thing that Morsi did, may God bless him for that. May He also bless the families of the protesters that were murdered under his rule, and the families of hundreds more who were murdered by those who overthrew him.

Did you happen to see former President Carter on the Colbert Report. He was talking about Habitat for Humanity, a project to provide affordable housing world-wide, which Carter has supported since he left the Presidency. He mentioned how they charge people full price for the homes they give them but it is done with twenty year loans for which they pay no interest because, as Jimmy Carter said matter-of-factly, "the Bible says we are not supposed to charge interest to the poor."

He may have been a total incompetent as far as a President, but as far as being a decent human being, they don't get much better than Jimmy Carter.

Take a look at the Middle East, even Mr Irwin's daughter didn't reply to my comment on that. Blind faith is a believe in a diety that doesn't exist.

How can an Astronaut believe in such rubbish when they have done something that nobody else has done. Only a handful have, and in Mr Irwin's time he was the few. Way to go and spoil the new frontier with backward superstition. What service did he do to a generation of Americans by him walking and drving the first machine on the moon with silly dogma.

Only two Astronauts who went to the moon dropped the traditional world view.

The Root of All Evil The God Delusion full length - YouTube 'The root of all evil, religion' Dawkins makes good points on this.

Salaam Alaikum.

The Bible may contain some scientific and historical mistakes, though I am not aware of them. Unlike the Quran, the Bible does not claim that it has been dictated verbatim by God, or that it is perfect. The Bible was written by men who were inspired by God, but they were fallible nevertheless.

As for a historical mistake in the Quran, I would advise you to refer to the thread below, which is about the Quran's claim that the Thamud carved their homes out of rock in the mountains, and that their dwellings can be seen and make clear the Quran's account.

http://www.christianforums.com/t7813817/

You can actually see massive buildings carved out of rock at Al Hijr and Petra. However, they were not made by the Thamud before Moses, but rather by the Nabataeans a few centuries before Christ and some time after Him.

If you want a scientific error, refer to the verses 55:19,20.

There are no two seas or bodies of water that meet and do not "transgress".

55:19,20

He released the two seas, meeting [side by side];
Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses.

The Koran and the Bible are not history books. They are books of spiritual teachings.

The Bible certainly is chock-full of historical inaccuracies. That does not make it untrue.

Unlike the Quran, the Bible does not claim to be perfect. It claims it is inspired by God. That means its writers were inspired by Him. However, being human beings, they could have made some errors.

This is what the Quran has to say about itself.

11:1

Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted.

The Quran's verses allegedly are perfected, and it is a book that has been presented in detail by God. Its author claims to be God, not man.

That is a quite the claim to make.

Any error in such a book would immediately disprove the statement that its author is God, unless you want to believe in a God who makes mistakes in His final and universal revelation.

Let us say that I write a sentence like this:

"General Sisi was an evildoer who had large stone triangular structures carved out for him in the desert. His dwellings can be seen by those who pass by, as a warning to future generations".

General Sisi is indeed an evildoer, and it is true that future generations should look at his actions in revulsion.

Does that mean that my statement, that he had pyramids built for him in the desert, is not false?

R4BIA: Detained Azhar University student, Haytham Ghonim, today dropped a note to his friends (pictured), while being transferred by Police, in which he informs them that he has been sexually abused constantly in his private parts by Egypt Police over the past few days since his arrest.

Haytham confirmed in his note that Egypt State Security office in Nasr City Police Station are sexually abusing, electrocuting and torturing him and all other detainees for participating in anti Military coup protests. Haytham has apparently been forced to stand in front of a camera in the Police station and read from a paper a confession of crimes he never committed.

Please like and sharehttps://www.facebook.com/hashtag/share this post everywhere and let the world know what is happening to Egyptian University students who are peacefully protesting against the fascist Military regime.

First, the Qur'an was the final Revelation "until the day of Resurrection". In the Baha'i view, the Day of Resurrection began in 1844 AD (1260 AH - cf all the prophecies in the Old and New Testaments about the year 1260).

Second, the Qur'an is a book of spiritual and social teachings. The historical accounts are taken from the understandings of the day current amongst people, for the purpose of explicating the spiritual and social teachings. Not to give a history lesson.

I'm not persuaded there is anything to be gained from such exercises. As Mirza Abu'l-Fadl wrote to the man who was to become the head of your own community:

"It is clear that the prophets and Manifestations of the Cause of God
were sent to guide the nations, to improve their characters, and to
bring the people nearer to their Source and ultimate Goal. They were
not sent as historians, astronomers, philosophers, or natural
scientists. . . . Therefore, the prophets have indulged the people in
regard to their historical notions, folk stories, and scientific
principles, and have spoken to them according to these. . . . A
rational human being will therefore have no doubt that those things
mentioned in the Holy Qu'ran, such as how the creation commenced,
the debate of the angels, the stories of Adam, of Satan, and of Noah
and the flood,a re all realities. These speak of repeated promises to
renew the world and refer to the appointed times for the expiration
(through the advent of the primal Holy Reality and the renewal of
divine laws) of the terms allotted to the nations. But from the point
of view of science, it is impermissible for the historian to depend
on the literal meaning of these verses."
