Ain't you the lone defender of this nonsense? Interesting. It would make a person with heart self-reflect, but I'm sure you have an agenda to meet. Good luck and Godspeed.

I'm just pointing out that it could be tongue in cheek. Who says conservatives can't have any fun.

Somebody portraying themselves as a messiah is highly suggestive of narcissism.

Did he? Really? It seems you believe that's what he was doing. Perhaps it was tongue in cheek. Kinda fun watching the meltdown of the left over it.

Sometimes it good to just have a little fun.

They turned on Trump, not Desantis. If you look in line, the left is going nuts over this. It's quite fun.
What line? The left probably think it's as funny as you find it. It's funny because it shows how selfish Trump is by insulting the guy he supposedly wants to win his election Tuesday. Trump cannot joke and have fun without it being at the expense of someone else. Can you imagine Trump's fury if another republican dared to insult him three or four days before his own election? We'd still be hearing Trump whine about it. What would be funnier still is if DeSantis lost on Tuesday!

On-line. No the left does not think it's funny at all. Just read the comments.

Some Christians have also objected to it. Most irreligious people have just seen it as lame or crass, and aren't particularly outraged by it.

Look, whether you are a believer or not, religion deals with serious stuff that is supposed to be transcendent, dealing with things that are ultimate, with life, death, suffering... and making sense of it all and finding consolation in a supportive community; above being reduced to petty partisanship of this world, as if God were merely a mascot for a political faction. I don't know how things are done in your church, but making light of what is holy is something that was frowned upon in all the churches I am used to going to. And portraying DeSantis as a Christian "savior" is sacrilegious, whether it's "tongue in cheek" or not.

Let's unpack this for a minute. First off the add didn't call him a savior. It called him a fighter and goes on to say what he is fighting for.

And if you know your Bible God creates people for a purpose. The Bible is filled with examples of leaders when were created by God and who found their purpose to lead. God places in each of us a desire to do something. It may not be to be a governor. It may be to be a school teacher or a firefighter.

In Desantis, because he is a believer he has found his purpose. To fight for certain things he believes in. God put that in him. To pursue those things. And so far he has been successful.

I watched the add for the first time today. Just to see what the uproar is about. And you know what it is? It's the whole God thing again. How dare anyone acknowledge God and his work in someone's life. God did make Desantis. He also made Pelosi. He gave them both skills and desires to do something. What they do with it is up to them. Desantis is acknowledging what God has made him to do.

Maybe it wasn't tongue in cheek. I don't know. Maybe it was a little. Maybe he was dead serious. But to get all worked up over someone who acknowledges that God created him for a purpose and he is working to fulfill that purpose is not the most horrible thing ever. He didn't call himself a messiah or equate himself as one. He simply said God created him to fight so that's what he is doing.

That's not really any better. Christians don't need human principalities to defend them in the first place. People that claim to "protect" or "fight" for Christians... this is the sort of language of Antichrists, historically.

Germans supported Hitler because they thought he was fighting for Christians, too, presenting himself in that light. And Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer rightly called that out as blasphemous idolatry, a matter that required church discipline, even.

He didn't say he was fighting for Christians. He said he was fighting for freedom.
So you can remove that from the table.

I don't see this as an issue. He's been governor for a while and hasn't shown anything remotely resembling what Hitler did or acting like an anti-christ. So your statements really are nothing more than fear mongering. Something I see quite often from the left anytime someone happens to mention God in their political viewpoints. Everyone on the left runs around with their hair on fire claiming they must want a theocracy or they have some sort of messiah complex or they are Hitler or some such nonsense.

So please, no more fear mongering.

Fear mongering? That's rich. How about, please, no more gaslighting? The MAGA crowd for the past six years has been dealing in all kinds of culture war fear mongering. Including DeSantis. That's why many of us oppose him. Clothing it in God and religion makes his behavior all the more obscene.

Lol, the left are the kings of gas lighting.
Perhaps they should take a long look in the mirror.

It's not gas lighting when it's really occuring. The whole culture war was started by the left and that's why the right reacted. There has been entry of evidence including videos that have proven it. Gas light is the left saying nuh-uh even when videos are staring them in the face.

DeSantis embraces Christian nationalist ideals. The message he was sending with that ad is pretty clear.

"And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, 'I need a protector.' So God made Him [DeSantis] a fighter."

That's the propaganda that grifters like Trump and DeSantis want you to believe. But in reality, the "culture war" is a moral panic used to inspire fear. It's used to distract you while politicians loot America's future at the expense of the most vulnerable in society.

Look I don't like Trump. We are not stupid. We see the culture war and know what's going on. We don't need some dumb politician to point it out to us.

Parents didn't react to what was going on in the schools until they saw it for themselves. You are extremely naive if you think this is just some politician guiding this. What we wanted and are getting are politicians who see it too and are willing to do something about it. That's what Desantis was saying.

We are not some dopes who have no clue walking around blindly waiting for a silly politician to tell us what's going on. The people started this and the people know what's happening cause we've seen it with our own eyes and heard it with our own ears.

You are doing what so many on the left do. And it's insulting.

Oh no not the scary Christian Nationalist propeganda again. We did an entire thread on at and you know what came out of it? No one really knows what Christian Nationalism really is. It's a boogy man.

And the left wants to accuse the right of propeganda. It's called hypocrisy. You do what you accuse others of doing.

That's just it. Some are willing to sacrifice anything to "Own the libs". It would appear that Desantis knew his target audience.
.
Given DeSantis' resounding win yesterday...I expect we'll see more of it in the next two. years.

"And on the 8th day......"
