I'm shocked that DeSantis himself put out this ad. One commentator said that he might have done it tongue-in-cheek.

He does have a reputation for being irreverent about institutions--government institutions, at least. He likes to prove how tough he is by disobeying federal mandates that other states obey.

The commentator said that this display of 'hubris on steroids' is something that people will not quickly forget, particularly people of faith.

How fortunate for our country that he seems to have overplayed his hand.

I would bet he did do it tongue in cheek. Sure he knew how the left would react to this! It's hilarious to watch the meltdown.

Go Desantis! Keep it up!

I bet in the back rooms he was like "watch this!"

As i said, we don't need malignant narcissists in politics.

If a Christian embraces that logic, then they prove they care more about politics than the sanctity of their beliefs.

That's just it. Some are willing to sacrifice anything to "Own the libs". It would appear that Desantis knew his target audience.

Is that the essence of Conservative politics? It isn't "do the right thing", but "be a thorn in the side of a considerable part of the electorate" (*)? That's very uplifting - not.

(*) I had a more crude phrase in mind.

I agree with you... This is far too far. I actually like DeSantis as a politician to the point I have publicly said I would vote for him if he runs for the presidency in 2024.

Definitely taking that back now. He doesn't know the faith at all if he thought even for a moment that was okay... And while I don't believe we are voting for a Pastor of our nation, I'm also not voting for someone who would do this.

Some things can be overlooked - heck I'd vote for an LGBTQ atheist if I truly believed he'd uphold what I see as our nations best interest when in office. But blasphemy? Nope. Not voting in an anti-christ, even if I think he'd do a good job - too many potential pitfalls right there.

This will effect the race in Florida for the negative, at least among Christians.

Religion should be above politics, and not reduced to a political sideshow.

It was my understanding in my Christian catechism, there is only one Man who has God's unequivocal seal of approval, and it is not Ron DeSantis.

This just goes to show that unless a Christian is demure, quiet, always self effacing, never confrontational he just a bad Christian. At least in some people's eyes.

Christians just can't win unless they just stay out of things sit in the corner and keep their trap shut. They are expected to stay in the background.

No that's definitely not it. He has done much of the right things. To the chagrin of the left in this country.

And you are a psychologist?
About 900 psychiatrists analyzed the phenomenon of malignant narcissism in the Republican Party beginning in 2017, and I rely on their expertise.

Lol, I'm sure they did. And we know these 900 psychiatrists had no bias and had clinical evaluations with each of their subjects.

Research has shown the left leaning bias is the field. An the psychologists know it.

Ain't you the lone defender of this nonsense? Interesting. It would make a person with heart self-reflect, but I'm sure you have an agenda to meet. Good luck and Godspeed.

But it's also that any individual with a little common sense and the knowledge of good and evil would come to the exact same conclusion after five minutes of exposure to the political leader being analyzed. I sure did.

Have you read the Sermon on the Mount? Don't resist an evil man? Judge not, lest you be judged? Blessed are the meek?

I don't expect people to be perfect, but extolling the opposite of the Sermon on the Mount as virtues doesn't seem compatible with what Jesus taught.
