Used-to dream (I did) of taking a barge along the canal ways of Merrie Olde Englande
Mary here, doesn't like water...
never learned to swim and has a dread of even being close to open water
She is happy to bathe in our bath, but that is as deep and wide as it gets (for her)
So, I guess, I will never get to do that .... oh well, but there are, a myriad of other things to-enjoy \o/

Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graham, given to me by a cousin when I was a child, started me thinking how nice it would be to be "messing about on the river" and I've loved the water ever since. However I can understand if someone can't swim it must be frightening. There are things I couldn't do - I'm very claustrophobic so going in caves, on the London Underground, using lifts (elevators) are out! As you say there are many other things to enjoy.

Me (?) I am cool (with water) however, I do seem to have 'lost my legs' for-heights (very strange)

Beginning day of the typical 9 to 5 work week, how is everyone doing? Beautiful day it was on Sunday, hope you all had a restful time. Church service was lovely.

Before I would venture out on doing a heights thing, I would need to do something about my anxiety of it.

Even though I am afraid of heights, still I enjoy flying in airplanes.

Kind of strange to love flying in big planes, but be determined never to fly in a little one. That's me, anyway. I think it's cos there have been many accidents here in New Zealand with those small planes. I did have a ride in a helicopter one time, though, and really loved that.

My Dad encouraged me to climb onto his stepladder when I was visiting him one time. It only has three steps. I can do the first two easily now, but I won't climb onto the top one at all. Still, I'm tall, so I don't need to get onto the top one, anyway.
