From the "Make America Great Again peaceful protest", files: Keith Ellison Wields Power to Restrict Freedom of Assembly of Political Opponents at Minnesota Trump Rally

Minnesota Republican chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan called out Ellison and Gov. Tim Waltz for suppressing the First Amendment right to free assembly.

“Suppression. Interference with our first amendment rights,” she wrote on Twitter. “This is what Gov Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison are doing by abusing the power of their offices to block us from seeing our President!”

Trump rally moved back to Rochester amid conflicting reports on crowd size allowance

The Trump campaign rebranded Friday's event as a "Make America Great Again peaceful protest" and claimed Walz and Ellison were "stifling" free speech.

"Without question, Minnesota Democrats had hoped that the President would simply cancel the event, but he will not allow partisan politicians to deprive people of their First Amendment rights to gather peacefully to hear directly from the President of the United States," the Trump campaign said in a statement

This is exactly why George Soros convinced the current Attorneys General of both Minnesota and California to give up safe seats in Congress in order to move down to becoming their states' Attorneys General (an almost unheard development in politics).

Since when is Biden a political opponent of Ellison?

(Because any Biden rally would face the same restrictions.)
Except that Biden isn't planning any and wouldn't draw flies if he did. The fact that Ellison's decision was partisan can be seen in these facts: The decree came out from Ellison only at the last moment before the scheduled speech, and 2) Ellison decreed that the number of persons allowed to attend was set at 1% of the number of persons who had been expected to attend. Obviously, the intent was to force the President to cancel the event.

A Biden rally wouldn't draw enough people to be of any concern.

So? And he is planning an event in Minnesota, though he hasn't announced where yet.

The event was only moved to the steel company yesterday. There was no chance before then for Ellison to say anything about it. Before, it had been scheduled to be held at the Rochester airport and the campaign had pledged to cap the attendees at 250, as required by existing statute.
2) Ellison decreed that the number of persons allowed to attend was set at 1% of the number of persons who had been expected to attend. Obviously, the intent was to force the President to cancel the event.
That was the existing standard. 25% capacity or 250 persons, whichever is smaller. No new regulation was created - Ellison was simply reminding the campaign of the law.

Pardon me while I roll my eyes at the troll logic. Biden has been intentionally limiting participation in his rallies to reduce the chances of spreading the virus. I know that. You know that.

I'm all for Ellison trying to save some of his people from Trump's supervillain exploits.

Well, quite obviously, Ellison's decree wouldn't work to Biden's disadvantage if he wasn't planning to hold any rallies anyway. And if he were to do so, 250 attendees would be considered a good turnout for him, unlike the Trump rallies. That's the number of allowed attendees according the Ellison decree.

The event was only moved to the steel company yesterday. There was no chance before then for Ellison to say anything about it.
Not so. The venue was moved three times because of different demands made by Ellison each time, and they were not just that 250 persons was the maximum allowed attendance. What's more, Ellison pressured the owners/businesses whose property was involved, not to allow the rally.

Again, so? Trump doesn't have to hold rallies either.

Now, care to address the two falsehoods you presented? The rally was originally announced on Wednesday with no attendance number given. It was moved to a new location on Thursday, and the owner of that location said he expected 25,000 people. At that point, the AG issued a reminder of the existing state regulations that all events were limited to 250 people or 25% of capacity, whichever was smaller. At that point, the campaign moved the event back to the airport and capped attendance at 250.

This was not a new regulation announced for this event, the proximity of the reminder to the event was due to the timing of the attendance expectation announcement, and the cap size being 1% of the "expected attendance" was just a coincidence - seeing as how the cap already existed.

Well, since you put it that way, no additional reply is necessary, right? ;)

Sounds like Republicans are just trying to blame the AG for not being allowed to have their super-spreader event, and then crying "tyranny" about it, just as they cry "tyranny" and throw a tantrum any other time they don't get their way.

What a joke. Just asking then to follow local safety regulations. Trumps crowds are always unmasked. 25,000 mostly unmasked people gathering would be a disaster.
