I think her family put it into her head that she'd been discriminated against.

I believe I read in one of the links provided that her lawyer recruited her, and IIRC, had some outside backing, so it would seem that someone wanted to push a case like hers and found in her a willing plaintiff.

The above are not facts but your opinion, an idea, a belief you have about reality.

It - it's almost like....equality isn't a zero-sum game and that more rights going to minorities doesn't mean that "whites" are under attack.​

Post number 164 was made in regards to a post discussing Ms. Fisher's lawsuit against UT. Post 164 is not a recitation to facts. Instead, post number 164 is your spin. Post 164 is your interpretation, a misinterpretation, of Fisher's lawsuit and legal claims.

This is not a recitation to any facts, except for the fact you provided a reply to my answer but the substance of the answer has not been established to be factual instead of a hypothetical of if someone exists holding the view you mentioned, then you are addressing them.

Let's see. In post number 175 the people you said you were addressing were those who think affirmative action is "reverse racism." I asked who these "people" were and you articulated the condescending beauty in post number 181. So, linking post 175 to 181 above, Your two posts suffers from:

1. Lack of facts properly defining the phrase "reverse racism." As Socrates so famously noted, "The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms."

I heard or read somewhere once that failure to properly define terms is a "tactic, favorite among internet commentators." Such a tactic is preferred as this permits the person to have a malleable argument, an argument they can morph and change by defining the words or phrases in response to criticisms.

But Wikipedia defined the phrase as:

" a concept that portrays affirmative action in the United States and similar color-conscious programs as a form of anti-white racism on the part of black people and government agencies..."

Oxford dictionary says:

Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism on the basis of race directed against a member of a dominant or privileged racial group.​

The link you provided is not evidence the Justice Dept. adheres to the view affirmative action is "reverse racism."

The Justice Dept. “investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions,” is not a declaration of "reverse racism" or a claim, allegation, or manifesto pertaining to "reverse racism."

We all know that a certain segment of the population voted for this president because they considered the fact that there were more brown people in this country - and with political power - to be ""white genocide"" and somehow an "attack on whiteness". Affirmative action has been a target of conservative lawmakers for years now because they think that giving minorities a chance to go to college is discrimination.

You can continue to make Ringo84 a topic for debate in this thread, but I assure you....I'm not that interesting a subject.

Then in an ultimately futile effort to give the appearance of some cogent point, you cite to a link in which the DOJ is contemplating investigating and possible litigation into “intentional race based discrimination” at colleges and universities as evidence of “reverse racism.” However, given the meaning of “reverse racism,” which you failed to define, the information at the link doesn’t support any notion of “reverse racism” on behalf of the DOJ. Investigation and possible litigation of colleges and universities engaged in “intentional race based discrimination” is not the equivalent of processing or evincing a belief in “reverse racism.”

The fact that affirmative action is seen as reverse racism to many conservatives should be obvious to anyone who has been watching American politics for the past say...ten years? Maybe twenty? Why should I have to keep a ratio in my business of anything, I should be able to hire and fire as I choose.

Keep a higher qualified student or potential employee from being accepted based upon quotas of race?

If a person is talented, and they can benefit my corporation they are hired, simple.

The 60's-70's saw the invention of welfare, more babies less work, feminism, rainbow flag day, save the whales kill the babies (abortion) on and on, a bad thing for America.

Many Blacks would ask why they have to work twice as hard for promotions. Why a greater proportion of their children attend inferior public schools, etc. I appreciate that it is inconvenient to have limitations on your bias playing out in the workplace, but improving the level of equality is not a clean and perfect endeavor.

I like how 75% of the first-year in-state students must be automatically admitted to UT Austin if they're in the top 7% of their HS class. (Soon it'll be the top 6%, back when Abigail Fisher applied you just had to be in the top 10%). The applicants at grossly inferior schools are competing with each other to be at the top of their class, same as how the kids at the privileged schools are. I've seen the difference in my own state between the schools in the poorer & richer areas. In Atlanta there are some extremely nice public schools. Nice, well-maintained buildings, with nicely equipped classrooms, nice cafeterias & not many kids who are going hungry. Quality teachers teaching college-level classes. The schools gives iPads to every kid. Then down in the rural area where I lived for a while, they have a combined middle & high school, and the HS classes are in a trailer out in the parking lot. The trailers had AC that had a mind of its own, either not working at all or blasting full force & loud. It gets to be hot as stew in southern Georgia. They have smelly porta-potties. Old textbooks. No internet. No real cafeteria, just a canteen & picnic tables. On top of that, it was a long drive for most of the kids to get there since it was a sparsely populated area. That's why we ended up going to a Baptist school that had been founded specifically on account of wanting to delay desegregation. The teaching there wasn't the best, but at least it had bathrooms that were indoors & was right up the road.
