  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

According to Homeland Security if your prolife and...your a terrorist

Can you point me to where is states that people that do or believe in these things are right wing extremists? I read that report a couple of times and I must have missed that.

That would be here:

This is a report commissioned by Bush and started by the Bush DHS.

So it's Bush's fault? Wasn't if Obama's DHS that released it? You should read the report on left wing extremism that the Bush administration released. It doesn't look anything like this. It's far more specific.

Once again, can you point me to where in the report it states this? Persecution complex, much?

Are you sure the part that you quoted is the part you wanted to use? Because it doesn't say that people that are anti-abortion, are stockpiling ammunition, buting guns, or support gun rights are right wing extremists.

What it is saying is that some people and groups do and/or believe in these things. Just because all terriers are dogs does not make all dogs terriers.

It certainly implies that they could be, though, doesn't it?

Compare that to the fact that there has (to my knowledge) never been anyone killed by ALF... and yet how many of you protested when the Department of Homeland security was "focusing" on them?

Well, they have been known to do things like burn down buildings and they're easy to pin down.

It's hard to pin down the loaner wackos that kidnap abortion doctors.

What does being easier to pin down have to do with anything... an Al Quada cell in the US is/would be harder to pin down than either group. You seemed rather dismissive of property crimes when it was the Pro-Life terrorists... you can't have it both ways.

It's not just loner wackos kidnaping abortion doctors, it's small groups bombing clinics, defacing clinics, terrorizing workers, ect...

The problem is many right wingers sympathize with those who would burn an abortion clinic to the ground... while condemning those who would burn down a lab that does cruel experiments on animals.

Well, they have been known to do things like burn down buildings and they're easy to pin down.

It's hard to pin down the loaner wackos that kidnap abortion doctors.

I'm sure you can provide some statistics to back up that, things like the vandalism were all committed by pro-life terrorists.

http://www.prochoice.org/pubs_research/publications/downloads/about_abortion/violence_statistics.pdf

By definition people who attack abortion clinics, abortion providers, ect... are anti-abortion. The terrorist is a bit more difficult a label... is the kid who steals animals from a cosmetic lab to stop them from being tortured a terrorist? Is the woman who sends a death threat to a doctor who provides abortions a terrorist? What about the ELF activist who burns down a University lab where animals suffer for the sake of science?

None of the activists IMO should be using violence of any sort, however violence which does not seek to actually physically harm a human being may be criminal, however it shouldn't be referred too as terrorism.
