"I think it's really important for people to understand that what Governor Abbott is doing is not just unconstitutional, and its not just harmful to very vulnerable people, but it is impairing the border patrol's ability to do their job," said Texas Congresswoman Veronica Escobar.

He didn’t defy it, actually, but used similar paths at loan and administrative restructuring and consolidation as well as interest recalculations that Trump used in 2019.

When Trump did it in 2019, the right was thrilled. I see no reason why, when Biden does it, they wouldn’t also be thrilled.
If I owed a bunch of student loans I would be thrilled most likely

You’re shifting here. Where can I find all these reports of the CBP complaining about the razor wire?
I found one story and it’s a Texas LEO not CBP
Again, I linked an article that included quotes, and they’ve been openly quoted in the suits and other articles, including a dust up where they watched people drown because federal agents were physically blocked from assisting. The one I linked even said that the Border Patrol agents cut through wire to save people and as a result, the plan was for the state to sue for damaging state property.

You have been lead to water, the rest is up to you, unless you really want to suspend all logic and pretend that they were cutting though the wire because they were so overjoyed at how helpful it is to have.

Again, I’d think some self-reflection is key here. If I advocated a policy that meant standing by with hands on hips, watching civilians drown to death, I’d rethink my stances.

I certainly hope all of the pro-razor wire, pro-deadly force on immigrants, aren’t simultaneously on abortion threads trying to get us to believe that they think all lives are valuable. Because apparently they stop being valuable the moment they try to enter our country.

They were not prevented from saving the drowning migrants. They had already drowned when they were discovered
That’s not what either Border Patrol or Texas said. Border Patrol said they were physically blocked from being able to cut the wire. Texas said they didn’t need to cut it and intervene because Mexican authorities had it handled. Which they clearly didn’t because they drowned.

I posted this in another thread. That version of events is not accurate

Texas officials called accusations they’d allowed three migrants to drown by denying border agents access to a riverside park “wholly inaccurate.”

The Texas military insisted they had searched the Rio Grande and the deaths had already occurred by the time federal officers arrived.

“At the time that Border Patrol requested access, the drownings had occurred, Mexican Authorities were recovering the bodies, and Border Patrol expressed these facts to the TMD personnel on site,” Texas Military Department said in a statement Sunday.
At no time did TMD security personnel along the river observe any distressed migrants, nor did TMD turn back any illegal immigrants from the US during this period,” the department said.

It's genuinely misery-inducing that this is something we'd have to consider. I'd hope that that level of conservative hatred against the very foundations of the country itself isn't that high, but with the number of governors openly supporting ignoring the constitution and the judicial branch...
Conservative hatred?
From Clinton's 1996 State of the Union address:

But there are some areas that the federal government should not leave and should address and address strongly. One of these areas is the problem of illegal immigration. After years of neglect, this administration has taken a strong stand to stiffen the protection of our borders. We are increasing border controls by 50 percent. We are increasing inspections to prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants. And tonight, I announce I will sign an executive order to deny federal contracts to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.

Let me be very clear about this: We are still a nation of immigrants; we should be proud of it. We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new citizen. But we are also a nation of laws.
CLAIM: Barack Obama said, “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: True. The quote comes from a 2005 news conference where Obama, then a U.S. Senator from Illinois, spoke about immigration and those who employ immigrants.

"Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday reiterated the right of the state of Texas to defend itself amid an unprecedented surge in illegal border crossings, insisting that the Biden administration had failed in its duties and forced Austin's hand.
Abbott and the federal government have, for months, quarreled over the state's unilateral effort to secure the border amid perceived federal apathy: Operation Lone Star. The effort has prompted multiple legal battles, including a dispute over the state's deployment of a razor wire fence along the Rio Grande that saw the Supreme Court this week permit federal agents to cut through the fence.
In a statement posted to X on Wednesday, Abbot excoriated the Biden administration, saying that Biden had "violated his oath to faithfully execute immigration laws enacted by Congress."
Except it seems that The Biden Administration has been working in a bipartisan way to come up with policies that will improve the situation, But D Trump has come along and sabbotaged it. Trump is worried that if Biden's administration improves the border situtation then this might impact Trump's re-election chances.

The compromise that some Senate Republicans were willing to agree with are dead on arrival in the House according to Speaker Johnson. This compromise proposed reducing illegal immigration down from about 10k per day to between 3k and 5k per day.
That compromise is unacceptable because we should close down the border as much as possible to illegal immigration and return to the "remain in Mexico" policy while awaiting approval for asylum.

Yes Trump is out for himself but why is Biden addressing this now after 3 years of telling us the border was secure (ask KJP) ?
Could it be because it’s an election year?

For now, the only thing Texas can do is to keep on putting up more and more concertina wires. Also, I wonder for long the Border Patrol is willing to go through the Texas Army National Guard to cut down the concertina wires?
I truly doubt that the Border Patrol agents there agree with Joe's policy allowing the invasion of illegal immigration.
I just heard on the news, the Biden administration has not spoken to border patrol.

The border will cause it if another is to be had.

It's serious enough to war over. :(
So far 24 states (half the country) is standing with Texas. If they all sent their guards that would be quite a militia.
