  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So God created the world and embedded it with fossils?

The lack of foresight here is comical. What is the difference between a G-d who creates by theistic evolution, resulting in "embedded fossils," and a G-d who simply creates it that way in the first place?

There is no difference whatsoever, but somehow you failed to realize this so I expect it will still escape you.

On the subject of faith itself, those tests would fail. Take prayer for instance. It has already been tested scientifically and failed. Prayer does not heal the sick, study finds - Times Online

The current situation in Texas is also proof of this. Rick Perry led the State in prayer for rain. God sent them fire instead.

The people doing that study do not understand the principles involved; contaminated results must be dismissed.

You don't see any difference?

At least, it is a sign of an extremly anthropocentric, even egocentric worldview. At most, it invalidates your own existence.

Seems to me the difference is one of whether the animals that left the fossils ever actually walked around alive or not.

The fossil record is no problem for GAP. We can see clearly from the fossil record that there was something here before that came to ruin. Science uses the word extinction. That is why God is in the restoration business. The current age or era we live in began 12982 years ago, when the ice melted and there was substantial flooding in the area that we now call the coral reefs. The fossil record shows that what was here before is clearly different from what is here now. Even though a small remanent survived to repopulate or to replenish the Earth.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,

What principles? And how were the results contaminated? Did God deliberately not heal those people and let them suffer because he was being tested scientifically?

Good, because that is also how Faith grows.

I find it somewhat ironic that you state that the study failed because the scientists didn't understand the principles involved, and yet you're quite happy to comment on something I said about testing Truth.

Let's say an account exists that has 1 dollar deposited into it once a year.

Bank records show two things:

  1. The account shows a balance of $4,570,000,000.00.
  2. The account was opened 6000 years ago.
Evolutionists say #1 is correct and #2 must be in error.

YECs say #1 must be in error and #2 is correct.

Embedded Agers say both are correct, because the account must have been opened with an initial deposit of 4.57 billion dollars (-6000).
It´s not like your viewpoint and premises are misunderstood.

Exactly.
We hear over and over again from revered men that hurricanes are proof of God's hatred for gays. Especially East Coast gays. I'm still trying to find where in the scripture it forewarns of His hatred of the US East Coast.

Rick Perry's all too public and literally grandstanding prayer rallies fly in the face of the beattitudes. He, very loudly, proclaims his Christianity at every opportunity but obviously has no idea what that word is supposed to mean.

The Texas wildfires are clearly a sign that God does not want Rick Perry to be the next US president.

OK, now if you deposit $1 per year at an annual intest rate of 0.3% your account will have evolved to 4.57 billion dollars in about 5499 years. This seems a far more likely scenario to an "evolutionist" or anyone else who thinks rationally about it than any fantasy involving both 1 and 2 being correct.

(I haven't read the whole thread so I appologize if anyone else already posted this answer)

One would have to understand the principles of prayer before attempting to study it. Your study does not observe those. Any poorly designed study gives contaminated results!

You didn't include hurricane Fran. I know some interesting things about that one, and not just that I was chopping fallen oaks on Fallen Oak Court ^_^
Some Congressional meeting about gay marriage rights on the day of landfall. It should have even been being discussed. Prior to this hurricanes simply didn't affect inland as far as the NC Capitol, yet farther inland than that a soccer field was under 9 FEET of water!

I think we'd be surprised if we could see the weather ↔ judgement connection from the spiritual point of view.

Again, what principles? Do they have to pray facing a certain way? Repeat certain phrases? Use "olde" English? Surely the Christians in the study who were actually doing the praying would have known how to pray? Are you saying the Christians themselves failed? Remember, all the study did was observe the results, or lack thereof, of intercessory prayers from genuine Christians. You can't seem to grasp this. So again, what principles did genuine praying Christians fail to use?

Money is measured in something other than time. Age is not. Maybe only $1 deposits are made now, but there's nothing contradictory about $5 or $5000 being deposited in a year, because the amount of money and the number of years are two different measurements. Age and age are the same measurement. If a thing has only been in existence for 1 year, it cannot be any age other than 1 year.

1. Why would evolutionists claim #2 must be in error? There seems to be a lack of information concerning the account. Anyone with a brain would ask first "when was the account opened and with how much money." Most accounts must start with some amount of money, and more often than not, there is a minimum requirement. Therefore, an "evolutionist" would need to know the starting balance, and if he/she didn't, he/she would not be able to say how old the account is.

2. Who are "Embedded Agers?" You and your pastor?

3. This isn't a parable, this is an analogy.
